When you finish yours, I could use some help with mine. Upstairs bathroom has a leak that rained down on my modem and wifi. Both had to be replaced. This is not going to be fun.

78 is alive and running strong again. 77 Engine and now 75 carbs. She pulls good, return to rock solid idle is instant.

Still a few issues to work on. Several times during my tuning I realized the headlight was off. Jiggle here and there and when I got to the fuse box and wiggled they turned on. I cleaned things up with some contact cleaner and it happened a bit later until I touched the fuse box again. Took her out for a quick 30 mile run and no issues with the light. I have a spare 78 fuse box but up underneath the shelter pod instruments is a bugger of a spot to try and solder a bunch of wires. I will study on it some.

The other issue is a small but weird kick in the rear end when aggressively entering a Sweeper. I put the bike up on center when I got home and there is definitely "some" play in the rear tire. I had checked the swing arm while I had it all apart last week and it was nice and smooth with no vertical ratcheting or side play. I replaced the swing arm Bearings a few years back. I plan to remove the rear wheel again and check the wheel bearings (replaced less than 10,000 miles ago) and make double sure the final to wheel spacer is in there. Also need to check the Comstar rivets. The tire has a fair amount of cupping so it is possible that is what I felt but want to eliminate the others just to be sure.

Thanks WF,

Got most of the ceiling down, and going to "try" to fix it where it is.

Plan B is way more involved, including ripping into the kitchen cabinet to gain access...

I'm on an endless quest to clean out all the nooks and crannies of my 1000 block to a point that's at least "acceptable". I think I'm getting close, apart from the very bottom.

I'm only a coat of paint away from getting it back into the frame and freeing up a bit of shop space. More importantly, making my '76 look as pretty as it deserves.

I sold my Valkyrie today.
It's kind of bittersweet, I owned that bike for 14 years and put 117,760 miles on it.

My woman and I have made a lot of great memories on that motorcycle over the years.
I just finished loading the bike on the new owners trailer, it's the first time it's been on a trailer since 2007.

I have been working on the front brakes system on my trike.
Finally replaced all 3 original 1975 date banded brake hose assemblies. They always passed external safety inspections but internally they were spooge hole polluters.

Rebuilt the master cylinder too. Nothing out of the ordinary there. I feel fortunate to have a very clean master cylinder casting. No corrosion.

Both sides' brake caliper castings are in very good condition. I reckoned their pistons had been marred with jaws of life previous to my first rebuild session in 2012.
For this 2021 rebuild session a new piston and seal took up residence in both calipers.

On the RH side I was successful to remove both caliper socket head bolts that clamp the two caliper sections together.
The LH side though was not as cooperative. One socket head bolt was stubborn and the hex stripped out. The other one cooperated. Decided to replace them as a pair.
Couldn't locate a suitable M10 X 1.25 X 45MM replacement anywhere locally. An online search lead me to an ebay seller.
Actually the best price I had found. But, EXPENSIVE!
Although there was free shipping, with nys st a bundled pair of the Honda precious metal fasteners cost me $21.62. oh well. gotta stop this overweight trike.

Worked on the 78 much of the day. Tore the back end apart to check a few things from my last test drive. No smoking gun. Mostly Inspected and cleaned and lubed. Rear wheel bearings are good, reset the Swing Arm bearings and torqued up. Swing Arm is smooth linear movement with no play. No play or looseness in the Comstar rivets. All the proper spacers are in place. The more I think on it I believe I felt the Cupping on the rear tire on my last ride. I felt it again today and it is not anything I would call unsafe just kind of gets your attention. So I called that good. Then I worked a bit on the front, and swapped the Belts. Those oversized tensioners (Sandiegobrass type) make it a bit tight for working space. I had built them up and installed them with the engine on the bench so it is my first time messing with them installed. They are just thick enough that getting a wrench on the adjustment bolts is tricky. Also decided to tweak the timing a bit. This is a 77 engine with 75 carbs and a 78 advancer. Need to accept I am not going to get what I want and just swap out the advancer but I am being a bit stubborn. I hope to get her out for a fuel economy check run tomorrow. I fought my way through about 40 miles of traffic this afternoon but finally gave up.

Gents;
With our quarantine still ongoing, I am getting a few more jobs done. My Mercury Grand Marquez is getting new front brakes and ball joints, my Wing is getting a new digital gauge cluster to replace the one whose tachometer failed.

Got a nice score for the 1800 today. Visiting a friend about an hour north and was talking about a seat upgrade. He says 'I have a deal for you' and that he did. It's a heated Corbin with a backrest for a c note. I didn't hesitate and strapped it to the back seat for the trip home. It's far from new but has no rips and minimal wear. One of the switches has a problem but that is easily replaced. It sits a bit taller and wider than my original seat. Some cleaning and wiring and I will be in business. Thinking about using the passenger seat switch to control my heated grip project. It's rare for me to ever have a passenger.
