Refurbed gas tank is in the 1000 dresser. Still several hours of reassembly for tomorrow. Also discovered my rear Master Cylinder is in need of an overhaul. Still works fine but the corrosion on the body and inside the boot is pretty bad. Ordered a kit but will probably install it the way it is for now.

My paint and body guy sent me this. The picture doesn't do the color justice. It's the gold for the pinstriping. I didn't like the factory pin stripe colors or the lay out so we are doing our thing with them.
I'll take a pic later..got the crash bards all fixed (road rash), painted , installed and the LED driving lights installed and wired up.

Nice!

Planned to put the 78 back together but just as I got started the wife called from the road. She was on her way to work and got rear ended by a F550 Rollback truck. She is fine. A little sore but other wise Okay. Her Wrangler is not fine. Back end is smashed up pretty good. The frame, hard top, quarter panels, and drive line are also damaged. The rear sway bar got pushed into the Driver side shock and bent it. The read diff is off center about an inch. Both back doors are sprung. Have to wait for the adjuster but I suspect I will be Jeep shopping later this week. She is PO'd She loved that jeep and does not like the newer design features. Hers is 17 model.

Looking good. What are you using to put the front fender and fender brackets together? Couldn't find the original OEM style rivets. I used Chicago fasterners with blue loctite. Not a lot of room in between tire and fender. Here's a pic of the front wheel, fender attached with the Chicago fasteners:

Colour match is good. Almost a 1000 Kms on these since install and still tight.

Wifey is very sore today but felt like she needed to work so I drove her. I will probably do so for a couple more days till she relaxes a bit. I did identify a 2021 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara that is on the lot and she likes. Same color as her 17 but a few more bells and whistles. Just waiting on the adjuster for her old jeep to see if it gets a thumbs up or down.

Worked on the 78 dresser. Took most of the day but I got all the supports for the rear tour pac back together. Besides the shock there are 4 chrome bars that mount to the shock mount and they go in in a specific order and are a Pain to put together. Very crowded back there so everything has to line up just so. Lots of tugging and pulling and adjustments with a mini Maul. Got all the rear brake system flushed out good and reinstalled and bled. Battery box, inner fender and exhaust all bolted back up.

Have a couple appointments to work around so fingers crossed that tomorrow I can run the new throttle cables, install the freshly over hauled 75 Carbs, throw in a battery, add some gas and start her up.

very glad your wife wasn't seriously hurt. A good friend of mine was rear ended a few weeks ago. She was stopped due to a major structure fire down the road and a woman behind her was to busy looking at all the smoke and didn't stop. Hit the car behind my friend that in turn hit her car.
Here is my crash bar and led driving light installation.

I still need to align them better once I get the bike back on the ground.

I pulled the heads off of an extra 1100 motor I’ve had setting under the workbench. It has 70K+ miles on it.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the hone marks still visible in the cylinders.
I was as much disappointed to see rust in one cylinder. The bike this engine came out of had sat outside for no telling how many years before I got it. You can see the pitting in the right hand cylinder in the second pic that is left after some honing.
I plan on freshening up the valves and getting this running on a test stand. Hopefully it wont be a mosquito fogger.

Hey Steve,
What happened? We are in Vermont, emergency trip. My 98 year old Mother in law passed away and we had to make what the border calls an 'essential entry' into the USA. We have been here for a week, getting the final arrangements sorted out. Funeral is tomorrow, home and start the 14 day quarantine Friday.
