My thought is, undo the cable from the engine end to get as much slack as you can. At the lever end tie a knot or two or three the make a ball. you will need to pull theses as tight as you can when making them. Use pliers to hold and pull. Use the clutch as little as possible, only for starting off. Shift gears without the clutch, shift into neutral before coming to a stop so while sitting your not pulling on the knot. Find a new cable somewhere along the way.

Thanks DUGG! Since it is too late to overnight it now, we'll just wait and see what happens with this cable guy tmrw. Hopefully he can make one or has one as we were told he deals a lot with Hondas.

We should know as early as possible tmrw morning whether we'll need it overnighted or not.

Do you know for sure if the 81 cable will fit on our 79?

Ok, Rick Anderson from Rick Andersons Snow Jobs & Dirt is coming to pick us up. He believes they can solder a new ball to the cable. Stay tuned!

A buddy of mine years ago used to fix cables that way. I don't know if the 81 cable is the same as a 79. Good luck, keep us posted.

Ok!

Lots of fun this morning!

Rick Anderson! What a hero. If anyone is ever trying to do anything with dirt bikes and snow mobiles in the Kalispell area, he is your guy. He's got it all!

He came all the way over to Big Fork to pick us up, drove us down to the Roadhouse where the bike was parked, rigged it up on his trailer, and took us to the guy that solders cables. It turned out that the guy didn't think that what he was capable of would be a good idea to ride on. Something about the quality of the cables he made versus the stock cables... Anyway, he was able to put us in touch with a Honda guy in town who ordered us the right clutch cable to be delivered tmrw around 1.

So after a great lunch, the ever so helpful Mr. Anderson invited us to his dirt bike/atv shop where KG is now taking the cable out and making sure everything else is in place for the new cable tmrw.

action1

So! Assuming this all goes well... this afternoon we plan to rent a car to drive up to Glacier NP and head west tmrw!

Ok sounds like you guys have it under control.

Do you think you'll still make it up this way or is your travel plan shot. If you cross over the pass on highway 20 stop in Winthrop and have a beer at the School house brewery. If you cross over on Highway 2 stop in Leavenworth at the Icicle brewery. anim-cheers1

All great things!

We're still sticking to the same plan. It seems that even leaving tmrw we still only have to go about 200 miles/day to make it to SEATAC/Bellingham area before our flight.

Thanks sunnbobb! We'll most likely take you up on that! We'll give you a call once we're around about or having that beer in Winthrop.

I calculated a bit incorrectly, it turns out that our flight out of SeaTac isn't til 11:30 pm on Friday. So I wanted to see what everybody thought about hanging out that day? The 19th?

And I was looking at taking the "Whidbey Island Wonder" down from the Bellingham area to the airport after our brunch/lunch time meet up. I wanted to know everyone's thoughts about if it was worth it? How long it would take including the ferry? Who wants to come?

Wow you guys are popular. Or all of us Washington state people are desperate to make friends. I was going to see about a head count for a salmon barbecue Thursday night. A ride down Whidbey would be fun.

Depends on my work schedule. What day are you coming in? And a guess as to time? I'm home after 6 usually. But you are welcome in the house anytime. Weather is supposed to clear up and be nice too.
