Bill's Wing is finished and being used as daily transport at the moment.

The chop is his next project; some real nice metalwork going into that, handmade petrol and oil tanks in process.

You may have noticed a lack of posts from him over the past few months.
I hope I'm not speaking out of turn here, but he's kind of given up with NGW after a run-in with one of the Admin over something.

A shame that, because he has the kind of skills and attitude that were a great contribution to this site.

Gerard, your crystal ball is working just great

When I was doing the seals today I wondered what that bolt hole was for, but I hadn't had time to look it up.

Cheers my friend. That is exactly what I need. I should be able to knock up something like that from welding rod with a coat of paint.

Or I can get one from CMS; in stock 4.50euros (about $7.00) plus 19% tax plus S&H :( .............guess the welding rod has it beat

A (very) little more progress!

Picked up a set of Raask Jota adjustable bars from eBay.

They sure look different on a Wing set up as touring type bars instead of the 'Ace' bars that they are usually set up as.

The idea was to have a set that would allow the master cylinders to sit near horizontal but still give me a hand position that I could live with.

This shows the way they adjust with toothed adjusters. Very solid .

I've brought them in towards the bike since I took these pics as the overall width, as shown, was 35"!

I may have to fit risers though since there doesn't seem to be a lot of clearance now at the false tank sides. Have to see once I get the panels back on.
The part where the grips and controls go is long, around 11", so I may chop an inch or so off the ends, depending on how I mount mirrors.

Yeah, one forward, two back again! :(
If you look closely at the M/Cs you can see that the mirror mounts are at different angles, why I don't know since the angle of handlebar to reservoir is the same on both. :-?
So I may go for bar-end mirrors, unless anyone has some bright ideas!

Got a nice set of dogleg levers too! What a difference they make; feels really good not to have to stretch my arthritic thumb for the clutch.

Howdy John, I've been traveling alot so I have not checked the boards in a great while.
1st class job! or as they say here on the eastern shore of MD. "Thats perdy werk"
Why don't you bring it over here to next years Randakk Rally? A couple of pontoons strapped to the sides and some paddles on the rear wheel and you should be good to go

After WW2 I think it was an English guy that drove one of those silly submersible Jeeps to the US, and don't forget the Cuban who had a Chevy panel truck rigged to float and drive to the US. Shame he got caught as we need good creative mechanics.

Hi David,

Yeah, these are the same, bought from Bob Howell.

Very good instructions are included; follow them to the letter and you should have no probs, although there are some hints that I could give you (and anyone else contemplating this mod.) if you decide to do that route.

I thought I had put something on the forum ages ago about this but haven't got time right now to search. If I find it later I'll put it here or PM you.

Ah! Well, I sorted that out a long time ago when I realised that my 'saying for everything' Father had it right;
"You don't have to be a bigamist to have one wife too many"

Try degreasing the engine parts in the kitchen sink or use the oven to heat stuff up, before they are degreased.
That should do the trick

( Only kidding, Mrs Hedgepig ! ! ! [But if you want to know how to get the smell out of the oven................. devil1] )

years ago I had a mate that had an arrangement with his missus.

Whatever he spent on the bike, she got the same amount to spend how she wanted!

You get the idea.
