Bought some long 1/2” shrink tubing from Harbor Freight (only place I could find a long piece and not have to buy 100 ft). Fed left control wires through it, cut to length, and shrunk it down. Rubbed down the tubing with talc to lube it. Then, snaked it into the left side of the new Emgo CB750 (pre-drilled) bar. Going with CB750 bar, because GL1000 bars kill my back. Both sets of wires are now in and controls mounted. I had checked all switch function and wire continuity prior, but will do it again this week.

Good idea to do that proactively and not wait until the 24th hour of struggle.

All handlebar control lines and switches tested (a couple repaired). Also all of the idiot lights and gauge illumination (those that need brightness changed to LED). Replaced the decayed gauge mounting ring with layers of single-side closed-cell thin foam weather striping tape - 3 wraps. Gauge assembly is now ready. Tapped the outer head bearing races out of the frame. It already had tapered bearings, but they were a bit notchy already, so new ones are ready to go in. A little more progress, but the shoulder started hurting again. PT on it today, so we'll see...

Been cleaning light surface rust from front and rear spokes, plus cleaning the wheels. Frame and other parts need wire wheel/abrasive cleaning to get a several rust spots, but I'd prefer to hit them with etching primer immediately after, and it is too cold and/or wet. Might bring the saddle in and order a new cover, as that is primarily an indoor/anyweather job.

Rear spokes with need something to prevent quick rust for sure, as without there failed coating they will rust faster. Have to decide to replace with with stainless or coat them.

I've striped the old seat cover off, sanded rust spots on the seat pan, and sprayed etching primer on the seat pan. Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be in the 60's, and I'll spray some black on it. Probably put the new cover on it this weekend.

Rolled the engine (on a furniture dolly) outside and painted it. Hope to get weather tomorrow for cleaning up the frame and swingarm, and getting a coat of primer on them.

I rebuilt the carbs two years ago. Usually one of the first tasks that I take on.

Frame is now 80% wire wheeled and primed. Ran out of etching primer, wire wheel worn out, and nose packed with pollen. Rear dive is wire wheeled, primed, and painted with Rustoleum Appliance Epoxy. New twisted wire wheel for the angle grinder is on-hand. I'll probably hit ACE today for the paint. If the pollen lets my nose go.

FINALLY have the frame all wire-wheeled and primed. When it warms up (may be a few more weeks), it will be suspended from a framework and painted with Rustoleum Appliance Epoxy.
