If it's #3 the crank doesn't have to come out. That piston comes out through th top.

Well I am happy. The scratch ended at the top of the piston at BDC. Zero marks on the piston or rings. Ring were fine. The cases are sealed and back together and torqued. Only issue I have is I don't seem to be able to find a Clutch cover gasket in my stash. I have the rear cover but no clutch. Looks like it is N/A on Service Honda, my local guy is digging.
But enough for one day. Time for a celebratory drink!!

Honda of Norfolk came through on the clutch base gasket. The parts manager Paul did not have one so he went in the back to Dave's Stash and found one. Dave is the lead mechanic and has been there since to GL came out. He is a walking GL Encyclopedia. Nice to have them as a backup!!

I have been neglecting my Bikes for too long so I am for the most part enjoying this as well. The next 10 days are going to be busy with Family stuff so my shop days are going to be limited but I will sneak out when I can. The next big thing on the agenda is numerous hours of cleaning gasket surfaces. Not really looking forward to that but it can be done an hour here and there so it should work out.

Well a couple of Family Projects have the shop in wood working mode again so I had to cover everything up with Tarps. Maybe Saturday or Sunday I can sneak back out there and get some engine work done. Got to get these Plaques made and over to the engraver first.

I been working on a tribute to one of my dogs and made up a plaque from Oak and one for my Son in Law's dogs he lost recently. Had them laser engraved but with the grain of the oak it looks like crap. I made up new plaques out of Poplar but I am afraid the softness of the wood will not engrave well so now I have to get some cherry or something else and start over. So headed down to the lumber shop after lunch then back to the garage to make some more sawdust. Once that is done maybe I can sneak in some more engine time between all the party preparations. I got my uniform's picked up from the cleaners so now to assemble and try them on. We have a task list for each day from now through next Saturday and it is busy!!

This is a Picture that I converted in PS to a line drawing and what I am having etched.

I actually got about 5 hours in the shed yesterday and made the most of it. Got the heads cleaned up some more, got the front and rear covers gasket free and painted and ready to go back on. Got the block painted and chased all the threaded inserts in the heads and block with various taps to clean them out. Chased the exhaust studs with a dye and cleaned them up. Installed a new shifter seal. Apparently the tach drive had been leaking because there was a GOB of sealant in that area so that took quite a bit of time to clean up. I hope to be out there for a few hours today and start installing stuff.
Will try to get some pics up soon.

Don't know why you're bothering with that paint and stuff. :IDTS:
You know it's just going to get in the same mess after another 100,000 miles or so!
