Wheels are painted, but no new pictures until I get the brake discs painted (black caliper paint I suspose) and reinstalled. Then at least I can get here back on two wheels. This past week was the first time she was not rideable, but then again the weather matched that condition perfectly.

If he didn't mean the calipers, he is probably refering to the inside diameter of the disks. The 1100's all had this area painted. I would think it needs to be hi-temp, lots of heat build-up.

I'm making my reservations for MID-OHIO and will most likely leave the Thursday before, Friday is the best day to scope out the parts. Head home Sunday afternoon

Yes, just painting the inside diameter of the rotors. They are black but need to be freshened up, and certainly need very high temp paint. Anybody found a good product for this?

Use brush on Caliper paint it flow out smooth, or have them powdercoated..or spray bomb them, I don't think it will burn the paint off of them...whats on there has been on there since 77.

I've been using VHT (Very High Temp) paint. It should hold up well since it supposed to hold up on automotive exhaust manifolds and headers. Can be purchased at O'Reilly Auto Parts

Here is a picture of the front 33 yr old Lester Mag;
Image

Followed by a picture of the rear 16 inch 33 yr old Star Mag;
Image

You may notice I double nutted the studs on the rear brake disc, as the disc needs to be removed before the wheel can come off. While perhaps common on this forum, as the disc and caliper was designed for the factory 17 inch rear rim, when a 16 rear wheel is used you need about 6 mm more space than available to get the caliper off the rear disc. So by using the double nuts, the studs can be quickly removed whenever the rear wheel must be removed.

Front Tire is Dunlop D404 F size 100-90-19
Rear Tire is Dunlop D404 size 130-90-16 67H

I think these two look pretty good together, and thanks to the input of this forum as I now appreciate their low maintainance attributes. So I am pretty sure that restoring the spoke wheels will wait at least a few years.

I updated the February 10th photos above to include a photo of the rear mag too. No need to waste forum pages with separate postings. Any hey, my sweety got me a really nice Fieldsheer Super Sport Textile Jacket for Valentines day. Way cool. But then again, her sweety (me) got her a really nice Honda Nirvana Textile Jacket, so we both are ready for spring.
