Best western at Orofino Idaho was awesome. The patio door of our room opened to the bank of the Clearwater river at the top of Lolo pass. Beautiful lobby and patio's. Really superb and above scale for a Best Western.

Before we left Idaho this morning we stopped in Kamiah at the Hearthstone Bakery and picked up a couple of their Reubens for a later lunch. Had them last year when we came over from Glacier, really awesome sandwich. Then a Beautiful drive over Lolo pass. Stopped at the RMEF visitor center in Missoula and spent some money in support of the effort.

In Bozeman now, tried your name and they said Fred Camper who??? lolol lolol lolol lolol lolol

Today was Bozeman Mt then down to Mammoth hot springs then the Grand loop road inside Yellowstone and over to Beartooth highway rt 212 across the top of Yellowstone and over to Dead Indian Overlook and down to Cody

Beartooth is no doubt in the top 3 roads I have ever been on. It ranks up there with the Going to the Sun road and the Million Dollar highway. Hours of breath takingly spectacular scenery

tomorrow is a blast over to Custer and the wildlife loop then Rapid City for the night After that it is pretty much just slab road home.

A lot of miles for such a spectacular environment. The slab should go fine with those excellent pictures and memories.

Today was the last "Fun Day" tomorrow starts 3 days of slab runs. Today we did the bottom half of the Burgess Junction loop (Cody Wy to Burgess Junction via 14) and that took us through the heart of the Bighorn Mountains. Only a couple hours but a Spectacular drive.

After that we blasted across Wy to SD and Custer. It was 100 degrees so most of the animals were acting pretty subdued. We saw Pronghorns, Bison, elk and Muleys.

Gotta love Custer. A most excellent park. Needles are wonderful. Last time we visited the Presidents, thay were all on break, or maybe it was just the heavy fog lol.

We just did the wildlife loop. We had both seen the other stuff before and seeing it again was not a priority. Rusty was a bit interested in the devils tower but it would have been really inconvenient to the schedule.

Yesterday was a slab run from Rapid City to Cedar Rapids IA. About 700 miles so a full day. Today was planned a bit shorter (only 500 miles) so she could have a couple hours with an elderly friend in a nursing home here in Louisville Ky. Sad but I am about 90% sure this will be her last visit. Doris is 94 and not doing great.

Tomorrow late afternoon, "and the creek don't rise" we should be home. according to maps about 640 miles. Already talked to the neighbor and the dog sitter. We are both ready for home.

I will raise a glass of wine to you tonight Doug. Quite chatty unless you consider the days involved.

nicely done Doug!!!

home about 4 pm today. picked up a few basics and turned the house back on (Water, hot water tank, A/C, etc etc..) then went and got our pups. Missed them more than the house. Everyone is happy to be back where they belong.
