No, these bulbs are different. If you know what a common 194 bulb looks like, imagine the same look only about 1/3 the size.

A couple of mock up shots to try to settle on a look. I'm partial to the bagger look. The top box could easily be added or removed if I keep the rack intact. Didn't want to remove the chrome pieces till I'm sure about what I want. Also the color will change as I'm not a big fan of red.

I will say (having owned a Standard 1200 with an Interstate back end) that keeping the rack with the bags is visually a good idea. The bags project pretty far behind the rear wheel down low, and the rack balances the look out up top. I've seen just the bags installed and, to me, it looks supremely goofy.
Just my two cents, of course. You're off to a great start.

I also had a 1200 standard … put the bags and the rack on it … liked both the looks and the functionality …

I agree, keep the top bag off unless required but okay to leave the mount. The side bags look great and add functionality that is important. Nice ride coming together.

That's what I'm thinking. The side bags tend to give the long and low look. Not even sure if I need to keep the top box but for now it stays in storage. All of my other ordered parts are here and ready for install. The plastic welder came in today so I'll be trying that process again soon.
FYI if anyone is doing body work, Menards has Bondo Glass for a really great price.

I like the bagger look without the top, and as Fred Camper added they add functionality. Having a bobber is fun, but carrying a backpack defeats the purpose.
I like a few of the 1200’s I’ve seen where they shave the windscreen down considerably too, but never rode one. Cool or rainy weather and they are a better ride.

As all my bikes do, my 1200 has evolved over time. I have removed the top box in favor of a rack, and have cut down my windshield so that I just look over the top of it. Wind is still deflected over my head. Works well for me.

A little problem with the plastic welding kit. Welds plastic parts just fine but fiberglass doesn't play well. It appears the gun is not hot enough to seat the wires in the fiberglass like it does with plastic. It's back to the drawing board for now.
Probably should be saying ABS instead of fiberglass.

If I recall correctly, ABS does like like the multiple heating that other plastics tolerate. Thinking cap needs to be put back on, you will do this.

If I remember, the shelter on the 1200 IS fiberglass, isn't it? Sidecovers are ABS, but I remember seeing the fiber bits after I crashed mine.
That said, ABS (if that's what your filler sheet is) to fiberglass is going to be a bit tricky. The typical go-do with fiberglass repair as I recall is more fiber matting and resin, but unless you really rough up the surface of the ABS isn't not going to grab. Same with ABS adhesives- it's not going to do a thing to fiberglass.
The joys of bonding dissimilar materials.

Either ABS or fiberglass won't weld with the tool. I've been reading that my best bet for what I'm trying to do is plastic epoxy. It may be a little slower process but should work. Just need to cut some small strips and do a little at a time.

Another milestone reached today. Adapted a pair of fork ears from a previous project. I think they were from one of the gen 1 bikes I parted out. Checked the opening and tube dimensions with a caliper and they were a near perfect fit. Cut them down a bit and they slid right on. I cut the part where the signals mount but I'm sure I can figure out another setup.

Not much going on the past couple of days. Little by little getting the panels epoxied onto the faux tank panels. Also trying to mate some aftermarket handlebar controls to the original harness. Way too many wires for a few simple controls. Instrument cluster is almost ready to put back on. Looks a little strange but is very functional. Need to get more pictures taken to document the progress.
