For all the problems you have run into and little $$ invested, I think throwing in the towel is the best way to go. You could probably sell some parts and make a few bucks.

Yeah - you can't win/rebuild them all, I guess. Too bad though, they're cool little bikes and there aren't that many around anymore.
BUT...! Like any good doctor, half of this crazy addiction is knowing when they can't be saved, I guess. (And like I mentioned, a friend of mine is giving me an '82 GS850G, sooo...
)
