Thought bungees were just used to hold the seat on.

I used to use them to hold the 6 packs (or 12 packs) ON the seat. anim-cheers1

Playing with the exoskeleton ideas.

Thinking it would be good to cover the radiator completely with a louvered panel, maybe a 1" gap and have large scoops on the sides to bring the air in.

MIght be a good idea to ride it a bit before adding more stuff??
Bikes at present:

83 XL 600r with a 2004 XR650L engine
And a slightly worse for the wear BMW GS adventure bike awaiting repair

I like prettymuch everything but im not sold on the exoskeleton yet.

I like the exoskeleton. Just think how good it will look on Hallowe'en!
If there is one thing I have learned throughout this process it is this: Check your respirator for spiders before you put it on.

Got it out and ran down the driveway and back a few times, as now I have brakes.
Have a pinch in the forks, so that's another thing to figure out.
The list goes on and on.

Did go ahead and lay the bike down in the shop.
With the extra height, goes all the way over.
Better start eating my Wheaties. :showoff

Easier than polishing or powder coating the forks. :roll:

Haven't gotten to do much with it lately.
But did figure out the fork binding issue. The brace is pulling them in by a very small amount, so I'll make spacers/shims for it.

Also, got tired of looking at the light grey Naugahyde. Guess it never grew on me.

For some reason, I couldn't find black vacuum-formable vinyl. So I used standard cloth-backed and just fought with it and the staple gun.

Took it out for a couple quick short runs and hard stops today.
I'm guessing with being much higher, the forks seemed very weak compared to the other GL1000's.
I've never used Progressive fork springs before.
I'm thinking they're worth a shot.
Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.
