The 85 mph speedo while adequate was kind of one of those stupid government regulations of that era.
I rarely do sustain speeds that would max out the stock speedometer
I preferred something that would at least measure the actual top speed the motorcycle good go.
Not that this is ever going to see a top speed of 150 mph.
I think the fastest I’ve ever had It was 100 mph. With a passenger and fully loaded. But it’s not unusual to get into the mid 90s on a spirited burst of acceleration.

It is also easier to read a gauge when the needle is in the middle third of the scale, not to mention generally more accurate in that range.
I have seen at least one other caliper that looked like yours did. I suspect they may have used the ones that were cosmetically challenged where they weren't so easy to see.
Re USPS, a few years ago I had something sent from near Toledo to my home northeast of Toronto. You would think they would send it across the border at Niagara Detroit/Windsor (about an hour from Toledo) or even Niagara but no, the USPS decided to send it to San Francisco, hold it there for a month and finally ship it north to hand over to Canada Post at Richmond BC, after which it had to travel back east to Toronto on the way here.
This is one of the reasons I try not to buy anything from the US if I can get it from any other country.

On the list of to do’s is find a none air suspension tach this winter.
I’ve had issues with Fed X but nothing like usps.
I’m sure cross border has shipping challenges

Well that is not so very hard since there are several GL's with no air suspension and a black face I believe. But you are limited to the same pickup method.
