That went cheap, but it may be worse off than first glance. Good part about these bikes is, there are a bunch of them, and some need a better home, and some just need to be parts machines. If you want to go 1200 (which is fun) you can probably find an engine for cheap.

Re: 1200 engine into 1000 frame
One thing I’ll add to the head swap part is that if you decide to use 1000 heads & cams use the 75-77 pieces, the ports, carbs & cams are smaller in the 78-79 models in an effort to move the wings away from the higher rpm hot rods to a more low end & mid-range tourer.
When I was looking at doing this myself the 1200 heads are better than the 78-79 models in my opinion and then as Cyborg said add-in the hydraulic lash adjusters and that’s what I would have used. Also would’ve used 75-77 carbs because they are the biggest and would be beneficial on the 1200 motor.

Will also add, even though the block is wider than the 1000/1100 models by 5 mm, you can use 1000/1100 carburetors with their manifolds. One side of the carburetors will not fully seat in the rubber inlet but they will seal up. T-bolt clamps can be attached so they come right to the edge of the rubber inlet.(boot)
The bolt holes on the heads do not match perfectly, but can be manipulated to work.
Most who have used the 1000 carbs end up making some jetting changes. With my 77’s stock, if I made a 2-3 gear downshift to pass or rapidly accelerate and hammered the throttle it would fall on its face. I believe it is the slides being sucked up too quickly and allowing so much more air that fuel cannot be added to compensate. Normal riding, or taking off in first gear it would take full throttle and burn the back tire easily.
I think the air box needs modifications as well. Mine had an altered frame and a fuel tank in place of the false tank, so maybe not with stock frame.
Adding this for the next time someone contemplates this.

Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.
