All I’ll say Cyborb is that at a half million miles you must be doing something right ! I will add though that the wix filters aren’t much more money than a Fram and low end Wix filters (MicroGuard) are about as cheap as a Fram with better construction. Not as good as the Wix brand but better than most on the market today.

I worked at O’Reilly’s for about a year after I retired and they would take used oil and filters in which gave me the opportunity to dissect a lot of different brands. Years ago I bought a large tubing cutter that is perfect for this, nice clean cut with a little effort.

One of the guy’s that worked there was convinced that “factory” branded filters were far superior but was amazed when I started cutting a lot of them apart and found most were made by Fram but just painted with the factory labeling. It’s all about cost, but that’s one area I believe is a bad choice for being cheap, my opinion.

One of my favorites used to be Purolater but they got bought up by Allied-Signal/Honeywell who owns Fram and you could see very shortly the quality drop, the mantra at Allied-Signal/Honeywell is to make things look very good but cut cut as much cost as possible. They require a 6% cost reduction in a product year to year, gotta come from someplace. Anyway, I need more coffee !

I think the change interval has somethiing to do with how well they, (all filters), perform. I admit that since this came up, I have done some checking. Now I'm just confused. Almost as much as conversations about oil. But I will think a little harder next time I'm in the market for filters.

Cyborg, like I said, you must be doing something right with the miles you’ve acquired.

I've been using fram filters on my truck since I bought it. it's an 08 sierra with the ls 5.3. If anyone here has ever changed the oil in an ls style engine, you know who hard it is to get your hand on the filter. the rubber coating on the fram is the biggest reason I buy them.
I've read a lot of reviews on various filters..the napa gold is suppose to be a very good filter too.
I run the hi flo on my bikes and mobil 1 on my camaro.
Ironically I was running mobil 1 syn in my camaro thinking I was treating the engine very good..then this happened.

I've been messing around with bikes for over 60 years, but I feel I'm never to old to learn. And have changed my opinion on
bike stuff many times........ but it's getting harder to change    I don't ride the 78 much any more. My body prefers the 1200. But I still keep it up for the times when my mind thinks I'm 25. That usually translats to good weather, and short day rides. Most all of those miles were long days, and often bad weather. Ah,but I was younger then

I got my last one from you, and it is excellent. I can recommend them to anyone who wants a spin 0n filter. I love the ease at which filters can be changed, the lack of mess. and the number of different filters that can be used.

TOTALLY agree! I tried to connect with him several times a few years ago and nothing.

I have been past Bob's place a couple of times in the last while … dark and deserted.

I know his wife was poorly last time I visited, about 3 years ago, and he was failing then too.
