Long story (cut short)
When I bought the Swan, my mate looking at it was a bit shocked at the state of it. I told him it was a rat bike.....the reply was "yeah, a real scabby rat". It just kinda stuck!

It's a short ride from Chicago to Mulberry Grove, IL. We're having a PigOut Gathering on April 17-19 where you could meet a small (but elite) gang. Come on down!
Check details in the Swap Meet and StL Breakfast threads.

I see Mulberry Grove is almost a 4 hour ride from my neighborhood. Could be a good shakedown cruise ... longest ride I've done so far on my '76 is maybe 50 miles.

I see the discussion in the other thread, sounds like my kind of mixed nuts. I too enjoy swap meets and museums ... and riding an antique bike!
I see guys are traveling from mid-Ohio and Western Michigan, I can probably ride from south Chicago 'burbs.
Today is my first day of the year riding in to work on the old girl GW. Really gets me fired up for biking!

Gord, traveling companions would be a very good thing for me, a noob to long distance riding.
My home address is 26341 S. 80th Ave, Monee IL. Compare this to your route, maybe this could be a good rest stop for your crew.

We'll set up a (late) Breakfast meeting place of your choosing, close to your place ...... that's almost 1/2 way from Muskegon to St. Louis .......
We should be in that neck of the woods between 10 and 11 AM.

This area is a big trans log area with massive truck highway traffic. Meaning, there are several good truck stop diners doing a brisk business.
If this is suitable, I will check out some and give you a short list.

Gord, I've picked the perfect place, not a truck stop. Mariliyn's Family Restaurant, 25812 S. Governor's Highway, Monee IL. It's a small-town, family owned establishment. Had breakfast there this morning. Marilyn says she likes bikers - "as long as they're hungry!"
It's maybe a couple miles off I-57.
