Do you have to pull off both the pump AND the fuel pump cover or just the pump?

Hain't done it yet, but the cable is held in there by the inboard bolt that holds the pump assembly to the head. The pump and tach are driven by the Right cam shaft. It will be those 2 bolts that I remove. The photos kind of show this. I have an electric pump, but it is that bottom elbow that needs to be accessed. GURUS-correct me if I'm wrong.

I would pull the cover, just to make sure ,if you want to pull the gear. But you do not need to remove anything but the top bolt, and the csble. You can then pick the old seal out, and install the new one, and replace the seal. A half hour job, if you stop for a beer half way through

Thanks for the info. My dealer said they may come tomorrow. It's the middle half that slows me down.

I was surfing Ebay a while back and saw what was called a "tach housing" designed to fit on the front wheel. Wish I had a pic! Anyway was this mislabeled tach instead of speedo housing. If it is for the tach how does it work, and why have 2 spots for the cable?

That's why it was on EBay, it was a very, very rare item.

Guy probably wanted a fortune for it too.

$18 about the same as the housing that bolts up to the fuel pump. No luck downloading a pic or information. Ebay has it listed as the "original front wheel tachometer drive for a 76 Goldwing. Can it be used in place of and is there any advantage to using it? How would it be installed. I don't know, but it is intriging. Never seen one before.

Bingo! An unbelievable amount of mis-labeled Goldwing parts on eBay now-a-days.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

I know this is late to the game. I was out of town, but is it for the left front wheel or the right front wheel? lolol
