OK everyone...

just wanted to let you know that with the holidays here, I'll be going quiet for a bit.. BUT -

DocRoot, Mike, everyone - Thank you all for the response!
I really hope we can make this work so we can meet as many wingers possible. This ride is going to start on July 31st, leaving the Toronto On. area. I plan on riding till Aug 4 or 5, depending on weather/route/etc...

Doc, I don't expect you to put aside any time for us. But if you are free and available to accept the group (I doubt the group would be less than 10, no more than 20?), I will work with you to cover the expenses to host a BBQ or something. I wouldn't dream of being a bigger nuisance and looking for accommodations. Hopefully, there is a local hotel/motel not too far away you can suggest? My guys are unlikely to accept 'camping' (they don't do that, crossy.gif ).

I have several map suggestions and will be mulling them over for the next while. Nothing is cast in stone but the date. My club is looking to me to set the pace and the route, as I did for last years ride.

I'm trying to keep the distance around 2500km (1500 miles), over the 5-6 days of riding. More than that and it get tough to stop and enjoy. Doc, feel free to PM your thoughts, location and suggestions. Again, this is not all on you and I'll help out... but if you can host, that will make for the best reunion of the summer anim-cheers1

Happy Holidays Wingers!

I am sorry you won't be coming, but if the rest of your crew is still up for the ride I am up for the visitors!

I am guessing that 500km/day would put you in the Montreal area on day one, then an easy day here - daytwo - or a marathon here and a short loop the next day (or BBQ and libations and lawn chairs). I could suggest some long-and-short loops from here, or an extended 2-day trip into NH and Maine with some VT hospitality here on both ends, whatever is wished.

My doors don't have locks and you are welcome, and I know some Montreal and Eastern Onterio riders are on-board.

I'm going to jump in and vouch for Doc being a true gentleman and an overall "cool guy". He has been one hell of a friend and has helped me get to know my GL. (I hope we still have plans to do my timing belts when warmer weather approaches) I live in Montpelier and I would love to get together with you guys! after all, I am the one and only "Vermonter" haha! Let's plan something!

If you guys have not made hotel accomodations, I will let you in on a secret... don't wait til last minute. Vermont has a huge lack of hotel accomodations, and rooms fill up quick. My buddy is a concierge at the Comfort Inn in Berlin, and he has been forced to send people out of state just to get a room for the night. Plus, VT lodging is expensive in comparison to a lot of states, not sure if that's an issue, but wanted to give you a heads up. As far as CLEAN hotels or lodging in Vermont goes, you might want to look into the Comfort Inn in Berlin. There arent a lot of places very close to Doc for lodging, and this is about as clean as you will find in the area. I would say it's about 20 minutes from Doc's residence.

We'll have to get together for a weekend of tweeking, then try out some of those rides to entice the Ontario crew to make the trip. I've got to finish up a carbset, do seasonal run-thru on both runners, and do a set of fork seals before my son blows in for a week or so, so I will be available for any wrenching you want to have company for, as soon as the snow lets me back in the barn.

Doc, it wouldn't take a lot to entice... your offer alone makes me want to shed my other responsibilities and just get up there!

Keep us in the loop guys... if NGW members decide to get together after all, I'll see if I can pull a bird out of storage and come up for a few days.
