I suppose that my theory is I start at the bottom of the "window " and then as the plug wears away and the electrodes shorten then you still stay within the "window" as Frenchy says. chef

Not exactly what I was referring to as the "window"...... If it starts wearing away, replace them.....

Oh, I do . I always replace them way before they need it.
I want to try some of those IRIDIUM plugs next time.
