I am lucky that there is an airport about a mile from my house. Av gas is available should i want it... I like what you figured out about the sensor.

I too am more than a little worried about availablilty of good fuel, but I remember when we said "Disc brakes? Nobody will ever be able to work on those" and Electronic Ignition? We won't be able to tune our own rides any more" and "Unleaded gas? we'll have to scrap every machine made before the 70's" and "Fuel Injection?..." you get the idea. UPDATE !!!
I have not been able to get a MSD 2330 O2 Sensor, had one on order, but they canceled, tried another vendor, same thing, not available.
So, I decided to save some money anyway and go with a Narrow Band O2 sensor.
You can get by without one at all with Mega/MicroSquirt but it is nice to have.
I have a Bosch 13942 on order now. They used them on Mustangs and a few other cars.
It is a heated Narrow Band O2 Sensor. With shipping etc. it cost $29.11, a lot cheaper than $80 to $90.00 for the MSD 2330 that I cannot get.
I am not sure if I really need a heated sensor, it will go in the crossover pipe which is a little ways from the exhaust flanges. You need about 900 deg. to heat up the sensor. With the heated sensor the exhaust fumes can be cooler as the heater keeps the temp up.

I think you did right by going with a heated one. I know at idle on a good running bike the header temps are only about 300-400 degrees.

I got a little done on my days off.
By the way, I work Friday to Tuesday Midnight to 08:00, work at the water plant here in Joplin.
So, my "weekend" is in the middle of the week.
Anyway, I put a HID headlight kit in my GW this weekend.
You might ask, what the hell that has to do with EFI????????
I am trying to knock off a few watts of power so I have plenty to run the fuel pump (40-50 psi) and the injectors (4) and the computer.
Besides that I have been wanting to do the HID thing for a while for a brighter light too.
It worked out good, it is really bright.
You can sure tell the old light pulled a lot of current, the plug was melted that plugged into the headlight.

I am about to order the computer (Microsquirt) and get really serious about squirting fuel into my bike with injectors (four of them,, more fun!!)

For programming the Microsquirt, You need injectors of which You know the flow rate. And a matching fuel pump and pressure regulator to get the required fuel pressure.
That is what delayed my efi project, not only the cold winter.
I am doing the same, maybe we could exchange some experiences...

Hey Mr. Taunusrainer,
Nice to hear from you, I am using Bosch injectors made for Ford to fit the Ford Escort, I have the flow rate etc., just now here right now, infomation is in the shop.
I do have one question for you now.
How did you weld the bungs into the Honda Manifolds (90 degree)??
I am playing with Mig weld and also looking at aluminum brazing.
Just wanted to know how you did it.
I don't want to warm the rubber connectors up too much.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was right, I found a listing that show the injector BOSCH 0280155796 is a 17 lb/hr injector.
That makes a lot of difference compared to 10.6 !!!!!!!

There was no pressure spec included but usually 3 bar or about 40 psi

That will get that ole 79 GW scootin'

I still have to get the computer, the Microsquirt, it is $400.00, I have been waiting to see for sure what the IRS was going to do to me this year.
Looks like I will owe them a little, so that will wait until April.

I am not a mechanic , but I am trying to wrap myself around this fuel injection. It seems there would be a different car that we could pirate the whole works from and make it work. There are a few smaller motors out there with it. Toyota has quite a few 1.3L engines in the past ten years. Why couldn't we rob the sensors and parts of a wrecked one of them? I guess it would be nice to be able to do some manipulating of the results with a computer, but it still seems to be an expensive proposition for a hack like me.

Hey, you are thinking about it, that is half the battle, gotta think!!
One big reason I am using Escort stuff is that it is cheap.
Another big reason is that the Throttle Body on the Escort I got mine off of has a Accelerator cable hook up that works very well with the Goldwing. It is almost made for the application due to the cable reciever being round and already notched for the two cables.
There are a lot of things to look for. One thing I am trying to do is to make it fairly easy for someone else to duplicate what I am doing on their bike.
I have some pictures, just got to get them transfered and figure out how to load them here.

I got the Oxygen Sensor bung welded in the crossover pipe today!!!
Now I gotta pull the exhaust apart and stick the new crossover pipe with O2 sensor on it in.
Got to buy the computer pretty soon so I can start testing all the sensors and stuff.
I gotta get busy!!!!!!!!!
