the one i saw at harbor freight had the fixed on one end, and the way they are mounted would make converting them pretty hard. your might be different

Mine is now in VA so I will have to wait to look at it. I got mine from cosco about 11 years ago and fortunately it is VERY sturdy

I want to thank all of you guys for posting on this topic. I've had my eye on this lift for quite awhile. Armed with your information, I went down to HF with pictures of what I wanted and what I did NOT want! The store manager took me into the back and we started opening boxes. 1st one was item #69904, and it had the bad rails with no bend on the edge. The 2nd one we opened was item #68892 and it had the correct rails and a solid bar. It was the last one in stock, so I purchased that one and when I got it put together it was perfect! I had a coupon for $329.99 so I got out of there at just about half price! I never would have known about this if I hadn't stumbled across this great thread. Thanks again!

i just finished this , it cost me about 125 for steel and 25 for nuts and bolts, and 100 for powder coating, still haven't tested it yet hopefully sunday... np

Nice Lift RTCCP. Perhaps $895 in labor. But wrenching is our sport and we pay for that. Looks very stout and it will serve you well.

A buddy of mine built a double scissor frame affair topped with a 4'x8' sheet of diamond plate steel with a hinged apron of diamond plate about a foot wide to make a ramp that hangs down out of the way when the table is up. When it is down it is only about 3" above the floor and it can lift to a bit over waist high. He originally powered it by a cable hoist attached to the ceiling via several pulleys to the mechanism but after a while he bought a hydraulic ram and pump from Princess Auto for it. It is big enough for him to work on ATVs , golf carts, sidecar outfits and the bikes at least as big as an 1800 'Wing, but what he really needed it for was building trike conversions.

I have the same lift, cept mine was built and dropped off by a friend (nice guy BTW). Mine has notches that the same leg's catch'es in. 3 levels to choose from. Works great, real strong. I run bikes on it all the time with no worries at all. Doubles as a buffet when the NGW gang is over for Brat's and beers

an interesting topic and one that bears thinking about when purchasing a lift. here is mine , i preferred the scissor lift type,
and i also beefed it up. the two black plates you can see on the deck are add ons. 4 ml plate bolted on. i also added a steel bar across the front to stabilize the bike. i only use this lift with the bike on the centre stand. you can never be too careful ... a goldwing is bloody heavy...
