If it were me, I would pick the first and paint them to match your front wheel.

Thats a tough call. I like them both. But like Marc I would paint whichever ones you get to match the front wheel.

Re: Maybe I'll call it Threedom?
They are both nice wheels and will look good on the trike but I'd pick the AR883 simply because without the slot they're easier to clean. My wife has slotted rear wheels similar to the second set on her trike and getting the brake dust out between the slots is a pain. Its also dangerous as the backside has a sharp edge and I've cut myself a couple of times cleaning them.

Dean's got a good point, and I like the 883 because it's simple.

Funny thing about colors. Ad a color to something and everybody will have an opinion.Marc wrote:Maybe some blue accents rather than all blue?
Being in the home improvement business I am often asked to choose colors for my customers. I start off by saying the only color I am aware off that none will have an opinion on is the color white. Choose any other color and someone will either love it or hate it . And unless you are willing to color coordinate the entire job, choose a color that will not lend an opinion. Aluminum like the color white, lend itself to be opinion free, until the time calls for total color cordination.. IMO.

Either is not a bad choice. Somehow the dual spoke 887 seems to go with the Lester dual webs better but not really a big deal.

Re: Maybe I'll call it Threedom?
WOW! Thanks for all your collective inputs re: your choices of custom wheels to order for the trike!
Monday afternoon, the nephew of my lifelong friend that passed away from cancer last year, stopped by for several hours to see the project. He and his wife had ridden up from Ocala, FL on their H-D several weeks ago, and we finally connected on Monday. 37 years old and full of ideas. He enthusiastically offered to paint the bike , if he was to come back this way again next year.
That evening, I found all you fellas had posted your choices and reasons for doing so. Overwhelmingly, to me that is, painting the new rear wheels to match the front Lester was recommended. With that aesthetic detail in mind, I puzzled who, what, when, where, this is getting far too complicated for my old grey matter to process.
Anyway, I pondered should I order one of each to install on either side to evaluate? C'mon old man, you're starting to get stupid about some wheels? The Loving Spoonful had inquired during my teen years in high school....so long ago I'm not sure these lyrics are verbatim--
"Have you ever had to finally decide?...... Say yes to one, and let the other one ride?" YES!!
I ordered a pair of the AR883 a few minutes ago.

Re: Maybe I'll call it Threedom?
Now I have another question for the group.
The stock chrome fender on my GL has always been a garish sight to my eyes-- being in such close proximity to the Electric Blue front Lester wheel. I've been drawn to the 1100 and beyond stock front fenders i've seen that are much more appealing to my eyes than the 1000.
Will an 1100 front fender bolt into my front forks?
For now, I'm thinking I'll get a rattle can of translucent blue paint, as closely matched to the rest of the blue as I can without breaking the bank, and let that act somewhat minimize my discomfort. After all, the original Pacifico fairing i'm going to re-install and the Electric Blue Lester are quite the pair.
show of hands and recommendations, please.

Re: Maybe I'll call it Threedom?
Unless I missed it, it’s hard to recommend a color or suggest an idea for the front fender unless I knew what the plans were for rear fenders.
If the rear was going to be Fender less, than just do away with the front fender as well until you decide what you want as a total package. Just a thot.

Nothing wrong with flat black on the front fender, the tire is black anyway and a flat black fender just kind of blends in.

I have the same front fender on my '75. I like it the way it is. But really it would depend on what you are going to with the rear fender. It would be nice if they matched.
