dont have pics of it, but my previous 78 gl was transformed to a low rider. had to be careful leaving some parking lots as my turned down exhausts would scrape a bit. so low, had to remove center stand and shorten side stand. removed all emblems, had hand made seat, tall peace symbol cissy bar. didnt bob the fender but did re-angle it to farther down the tire. lots of other little changes. turned out pretty good for a poor boy customization. even my harley friends liked it. my current 78 gl is stock original but not so pristine that i look at it and those bike butcher thoughts start creeping in.if i do it again, thinking about a softtail type rear suspension or onboard air compressor so when parked, i can lower it to the ground.there may be something wrong with me. i dont know.lol.
yeah, shes a little ugly. but she sure can cook.

Here is my first attempt at bobbing a GL, more to come. Have added '83 mags and CB900 fenders, and lost most everything else. The exhaust system is next, ah yes, something subtle, yet throaty, on the mild side.

Nice looking redhead you got there.

Might I suggest some Harley "takeoff" mufflers. They have a nice, deep tone, good chrome, and can be had for cheap. Search around here and you'll likely get some good ideas.

Nice! I guess you aren't using the Randakk blower? I see his allows you to keep the stock faux-tank lid ie it's low enough to fit under it without exposing the air filter.

Nice looking bike though....I like.

Nicely done flame job!

I've seen plenty of bad ones, but this flows and ties the body elements together well.

I have removed the entire rear frame section holding the shocks on my 84. So without going the hardtail route my only option was to go with a leaf spring rear. I used the old passenger footboard mounting location to secure the front section of the leaf. I used a 3/8" leaf off of a tractor trailor and custom cut it by hand! (anybody ever tried to cut spring steel? WOW) I am currently having a new rear axle pin lathed with the addition of a mounting point on both ends to accept the new leaf which will then be custom rolled to the correct diameter of the new races.

I think the final product will be a semi-hard rear suspension so i am planning on springing the seat. The springs almost line up perfect with the swingarm. Gonna look nice i think.....anybody ever tried this before?

PS i would post pics if i could figure out how to downsize my pics! Any ideas on how?
