2025 Polar Bear Ride

#1

Post by Sidecar Bob »

My apologies for posting this so late but I was just laying in bed hoping that my back pain would ease up enough for me to put salt on the driveway when I realized that tomorrow is New Year's eve.
Unless my back feels significantly better I do not expect to participate this year. This will only be the 2nd time I have missed since I first learned about the PBR in 2009 (the first time I had a torn rotator cuff).

The rules are the same as they have always been
1) Participation in the NGW Polar Bear Ride is open to all registered forum members and anyone else they'd like to take along.
2) Go for a ride of at least 1hr duration on either Dec. 31 or Jan 1 or both. (I usually head for somewhere that is at least a half hour from home, stop for a meal or to visit someone or something like that and then make sure I take more than half an hour to get back home).
3) Take one or more pics &/or a video and post them in this thread.

PATCHES:
In the past I have provided a link to Piper's Patches so that participants could order patches, year rockers, pins &c I have been unable to find any trace of them inline this year so I guess that is no longer an option.

I have been buying year rockers from www.e-patchesandcrests.com/ since 2022. They cater primarily to Girl Guides and similar organizations so the rocker colours vary from year to year and the shape doesn't match well with the parches from Piper's but they do sell a round Polar Bear patch that their rockers do fit

Me too. My mind says "go for it" but my body disagrees.

My weather says I'd be on my ass in less than a mile. Sitting this one out once again.

I just went out to look at the driveway. If my back was up to it I might get down to the road and be able to get down the hill to the corner but coming back up the road and especially the driveway wouldn't be so easy.

I could ride around the underground garage … but I don’t think that gets a patch …
