1985 GL1200 Going Naked with Dual Webers
Started this project a while back and had some health issues. Have lots of images and will try to get them posted in the correct order. Started with a fairly low mile (60,460) 1985 Aspencade. Decided to go with dual Weber IDF40 carburetors. Not much info out there for these carbs on a 1200 but I will share all that I learned.
3D models were made and I CNC'd my own flanges.
Will take me a bit to get everything uploaded.
Anyone needs more information or more image let me know.
Images as I got it.

Had to pull the tank due to rust. Couple of days in Evaporust and it was good to go.
No pictures but timing belts and idlers pulleys were replaced as well

Powder coated the center all the rotors.
Went with a electronic speedometer. Sensor is mounted in the rear rotor.
I designed and 3d printed a block of plate where the speedo cable used to attach to the front drive.
Also 3d printed some new rubbers for the caliper pins on the Trac system - they are gray as that is all I had for TPU filament
Block off plate and the TRAC BOOT PISTON CASE Part # 51442-MC7-003

Deleting the 1200 fairing leave large openings in the stock false tank/shelter.
Went with a GL1100 shelter and made new mounts.
A little fiberglass work on both sides to blend the stock 1200 side covers to the 1100 shelter.

exhaust is just the stock pipes cut down and I removed the center "H" section to get rid of some weight.

Front fairing is an Emgo Venom with a LED headlight off of Amazon.
Made a custom bracket to mount the digital speedo.
Tach, gear indicator, fuel level, speedo all are functional.
I used the "check engine" lite to the oil pressure switch

Rear fender was a trailer fender from Tractor Supply I cut n half and welded together to get the width needed.
Taillight/license plate mount is an Amazon special with turn signals built in.
I also embedded led lights as turn signals into the back of each side cover.

Weber Carbs are next. I really shouldn't call them Webers as I used some knock off copies.
Started with measuring and 3d modeling.
I did all my own drawings/models and if anyone wants them let me know.

Re: 1985 GL1200 Going Naked with Dual Webers
For the flanges I used 3/8 plate I surfaced flat on each side and wound up around 0.350" for thickness.
I had an old head I used as a welding fixture
This was the first project I used my "new to me" mill.
Part of the delay on the Goldwing was retrofitting the controls on the mill.
Once I had them welded up I went back to the mill and clamped them down to do once last surface pass to ensure everything was flat.

I measure the size and location of the vacuum port and put it into the new intake runner.
After powder coating they looked good.
You can also see one of the four solid plugs I made to plug the old emission control system ports.
The manifolds hold them in just like the original pipes were retained.

Linkage was next.
I kept the push/pull original cables and center linkage was extended.
