Quick question. I had a fuel port clogged on one of my 4 carbs. Would that possibly cause the other 3 to flood and leak into the plenum

Got out for a hundred plus mile run on the dressed 1000. Running fair. Once a hard demand is placed on the engine about 50% of the time it drops a jug or more. Feels like a hanging slide but could just be the old gas. I dumped a 5 gallon bucket in there from last fall. It was Non Eth and had Stabil in it but still.... I went out to Waverly and put 3.4 gallons of fresh non Eth in it and it did seem better one the way home. Often a quick pull of the choke will clear it. Maybe tomorrow I will do a quick top end service on the carbs and then back out to Waverly for some more fresh gas.

Yea this was last week. Stock 32 inch tires and no lift. Now sitting on 35's and a small lift. It was advertised as a 2 inch lift but so far when you subtract the tire difference it comes out to about 4 inches.

Put a set of 78 carbs on it just to check and the same problem exists. About 80 mph you start dropping jugs. She did pull good to 110 once but intermittently it drops one or more jugs. The carbs I put on were a old off the shelf set. Pretty sure I had rebuilt them before they went on the shelf. I went through the tops and cleaned those up before they went on and inspected a couple of the bowls and they looked pretty good but they been dry for several years.

So the plan is to check valves and do a complete rebuild of a set of 77 carbs I have. Will check timing and advancer throw a fresh set of plugs etc... and see where it leads me.

Tomorrow is the last clear day for a few days so I will do yard work and maybe sneak out for a ride on the big bike but Wednesday/Thursday I will start on this again. Time is running short to get this running right and sold.

Pretty much had to accept that this was not going to get accomplished before my knee surgery next Monday. Too many other things to get done so I shut down the for sale listing on FB.

I spent the day draining all my various gas tanks into the truck (Including the GL1000) and making my annual hurricane prep run out for all fresh Non Eth Gas. Normally this is a June 1st task (the start of Hurricane season). My nearest non Eth Gas is 44 miles one way. I took the big Generator and 22.5 gallons worth of jugs and filled them all with Stabil and fresh corn free gas. So that is off my list of chores. I plan to ride the 1800 and the 1200 and put Stabil in them this weekend.

I bought the Generator in 2015 and the little start battery has finally given up. 10 years is pretty amazing! Luckily as big as the engine is, it does pull start on generally the second pull. The Start Battery is currently on a trickle charge and I will check it today but probably end up replacing it.

I have 3 racks of Carbs ( one 75, one 77, and one 78) on the bench to go through once I get clearance from the Doc. Met with him yesterday and he was pretty adamant about restricting my activity. The first week only 750 steps a day. Basically only Bathroom trips. The second week only 1500 etc etc etc. I was originally told to start Therapy the first week but he changed that to after I have my follow up at 2 weeks post op. Once the Bone is cut to shape the new prosthetic is a "press to fit" over the ends so the bone needs time to heal around it. From the images I have seen I think they hammer it on from the side. He had a nasty smile when he told me "yes there is a hammer involved"

Here’s hoping the new knee behaves … you young folk get a porous prosthesis that your own bone grows into … takes some time to happen but allows for future repairs. Older folk they just glue them in ‘permanently' …

I had my left knee replaced in November and the right knee in March. Been back to work for a couple of weeks now. Ortho doc didn't put any restrictions on me, only PT and activity as tolerated.

Rusty has work tomorrow and supposed to rain most of Friday so we took some time and got out for a ride on the big bike. We managed a 120 mile loop. Went up to Williamsburg then down to the River at Jamestown and across the James River on the Ferry to Surry and back down through Suffolk and back to home. Was a nice day.

Good stuff … you’ll be back at it with your new knee in time for the September Run.

In the meantime you have nice 4 wheelers …
