Earlier today.
Dirt roads around 8000 ft. elevation in the rocky mountains.
Looks like it's about time for another back tire.

Some more dirt road riding.
This bike has done great hauling us many miles on dirt.
I'm suprised that more people dont take their oldwings off of the pavement.

Just awesome.
I do take mine off the pavement since I live on a mile of gravel road
but I do not actively seek out gravel roads on my wing. For that i have my xr650r

The old bike is still going strong.
Went out for a ride yesterday and ended up at the dirtbike trails.

Re: 1981 GL1100 "Dual Sport"
The bike did pretty good the whole trip.
The back tire has only been on the bike for 20 days and is already looking like it needs replacing.
I'm pretty sure I wore out the front brake pads.
I used 1 1/2 quarts of oil for this trip.
On this bike, I've never had to add oil on the road before,
but on this trip, I worked the old girl like a Government Mule so it's not surprising.
extremes:
Average 352 miles a day.
11,530 ft. above sea level (slumgullion pass, Colorado)
to
-196 below sea level (Furnace creek, Nevada)
Temps ranging from 50 to 105 degrees.
Some pretty steep slow mountain grades to dead flat long high speed desert highways.
Only 11 miles of dirt roads this trip.
