Not to the wing but for it. I dragged the better half down to cycle gear shop and tried on helmets. Took a bit but found what we wanted. They had the size for her but not for me so I came home and ordered them. Saved about 40 bucks verses the store. Also spent some time with one of the young fellers there and got some edjumacation on talking systems.

Seems the young folks think Sena is a system of the past and Cardo is the future. I been studying for a bit now and there are some advantages to the Cardo. Currently looking at the Freecom 4x system. Also going to put a Bluetooth converter (on order) in my 1800 so we can listen to my tunes in our headphones.

Told the Wife this was her Christmas Present and she LOVED IT!!!! dancr dancr dancr dancr

Spending money on Bike stuff and the Wife is happy about it! Dang Life is good lolol lolol lolol lolol

I need to keep up with the technology.

Steve, I’m guessing the BT converter connects the bike tunes to Cardo or Sena eliminating corded helmet headsets?

Back on topic, I replaced my led headlamp, trunk tail lamp and (drum roll) both front brake pad sets. I love how the 1800 lets us replace pads without removing the front wheel or even the calipers. Just pull one Allen head pin.

I had an uneventful ride home, but I need a good soak 🛁 in a hot tub that I don’t have!

Had a great time in Morehead thanks to all who came and Bob’s super planning.
It did make me nostalgic for the Slade motel and pavilion.

exactly. Oldewing told me about it. https://electricalconnection.com/index. ... tooth-aux/ also should allow playing music that is on your phone.

We bought the cardo freedom and love it. One difference to consider is the newest tech for connectivity, especially for group riding. The 'mesh' type works best for group riding, as one can drop in and out easily, but is more expensive. The older style requires a 'daisy chain' type connection between users. We bought the cheaper type as we seldom ride in large groups...

yea with the exception of the NGW get togethers I never ride with anyone else. I think the Freecom 4 will do 4 riders. New helmets shipped from Vegas so once they arrive I will go get the com system and have it built up. Hopefully by next weekend. Needs to be quick as Deer Season is coming fast!

Steve, wife and I have been using the Cardo Packtalk bold for a couple of years now. I bought the two pack which will save you some coin vs buying them separate. They work fine and eliminate the intercom cords which is a plus. I've also equipped her 2001 Goldwing trike to Bluetooth. That is a very expensive proposition.

The Cardo's use DCM to talk to each other and have the ability to connect to two Bluetooth devices as well. You can probably save a bunch by not equipping your bike with Bluetooth if your GPS has the ability to connect to two Bluetooth devices and has an mp3 player. You both can listen to the GPS and talk to each other simultaneously and listen to your tunes. You won't be able to listen to the bike's radio though unless its through the speakers.

I've found the Electrical Connection Bluetooth adapter to be very finicky. My connection will come and go. Seems to be heat related but not sure. You will need this in order to connect the GPS to the bikes audio through the Aux connection. I bought a second adapter thinking the first one might be defective but the second one is the same. I haven't traced the Aux connection on the bike to see if there might be a bad connection along the way.

In addition to the Bluetooth adapter you will need two Sena Freewire adapters in order to be able to connect your headsets to the bike. One for each rider as they only have one Bluetooth channel. They connect to the intercom cables and you'll have to run a power source for them to work.

If you have your headset connected by Bluetooth to both the bike through the Sena Freewire adapter and the GPS then when you are listening to the bikes audio the headset will not listen to the GPS. Its all a bit of a pain. If you don't listen to the GPS audio instructions as a matter of course then all you'll need is the Sena Freewire adapters. Still pricey. Amazon's current price for two Sena Freewire adapters is $497.44 before taxes and shipping.

This post is a bit rambling, shoot me a PM or call me if you need any clarification.

I tried again - unsuccessfully - to seal the valve cover on a gl1100.

I'm having a devil of a time getting valve cover gasket to stop leaking oil on my right boot.

This is the Blue Phoenix (2020-21 build). The thermostat failed on my son last spring, and before he swapped in a new one a head gasket blew. We did both head gaskets over the 4th of July but were 1 tooth off on the right cam and bent a valve. The replacement head seems to be working dandy (almost 250 miles now), but the valve cover gasket leaks. (I've poked all around, and it's a drip/seep.

Last weekend, I swapped in a fresh rubber seal, thinking that'd do it. Nope.

The bike has Drag Specialties chrome covers, so I then tried the OEM aluminum one from the replacement head. Nope.

Today, I pried those rubber seals off the valve cover bolts and slipped in a stainless washer to attempt cinch the gasket down just a bit more. I thought that would do it. Nope.

I don't want to go to RTV or the like, but it's fast becoming the last resort.

It's not good to have oil spit-shining the right shoe. (Maybe I should flip-flop my boots after 50 miles to get an even coating?)

Yea I gave up on the drag specialty covers years ago. Seems they are just not rigid enough to hold tension all the way around. If everything is new one trick that has helped me is to remove it then place all 4 bolts in basically finger tight then tighten the bottom ones first till the shoulders bottom out. After that you can snug up the top bolts. That simple thing has fixed a couple for me.

I can try that move. I have not replaced the rubber washers/seals on each stud. I guess that might be next.

So the new helmets came in yesterday and I ran down and had the Cardo Freecom 4X system installed. Love it. I spent 5 hours on the nekid 1200 today and rocked my tunes and got 2 phone calls and even was able to hear the Google GPS from my phone in the headset. It is still going to take some time to get the switchology right but so far so good!

Oh and the Blue tooth adapter for the 1800 came in the mail. Have a large list of chores tomorrow but it will be installed soon.
