August 2025

Grandson will be getting married in Oregon in August 2025. No hard date yet. So a loose plan starts to form. I could not figure a way to combine the bike with the Trip taking the Better Half to Glacier (happening in like 4 weeks) so this will be the make up. Wife can fly and I will ride. It will include Lolo and Beartooth and a bunch of other stuff. Out and back will be along a Northern route.

I hope you'll be able to spend some time in the NW once you get there. There are a ton of good places to visit within striking distance of Portland. Trips from Portland worth seeing are Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier. Make sure you go to the Sunrise Visitor Center on Mt Rainier if you go. East of Portland along the Columbia River is Multnomah Falls, Mt. Hood and the Bonneville Dam. The Dam is worth the trip as well as the falls. Mt Hood is basically for skiers and that is what the visitor center is set up for. US 101 down the Oregon coast is worth the ride, we rode it as far as Coos Bay then turned inland to Crater Lake. If you're interested let me know and I'll send you what Terrie and I found worth seeing.

Not sure how long we will be there. She would fly and I would ride like last time. I know the Wife has mentioned a day coastal ride down 101. Probably only to about the Ca line then back up. I think that is probably about a hundred miles each way but really don't know how bad traffic would be.

Trying to figure the route avoiding stupid crowded places but almost impossible. Beartooth pass takes me straight into Yellowstone. I don't have dates for Jake's Wedding yet but Sturgis 2025 is the 1 through the 10th of August. So that could be a conflict.

On the way out do the southern half of Burgess loop to Cody and then up to the top of Beartooth highway and take that into the park.

On the way back go up to Lolo and do that from the West headed East. Then down to the Chief Joseph scenic byway to Cody and take the Northern half of the Burgess junction loop.

Since you are going to ride lolo and this road is in the area.
I'd like to suggest 129 from Clarkston to Joseph Oregon / Wallowa lake.
I know that It's tough to fit in all of the good roads, but...

If you get close to McMinnville, OR , be sure to go see the Spruce Goose, Howard Hughes’ wooden airplane. I promise you that you will not forget seeing it for as long as you live. It is incredible!

Wifey has decreed that we will be spending one day and night at Crater while we are out there. Need the Grandson to lock down the dates so I can start working reservations for that.
