Hello,
I have had to change my GL 1100 standard /1982 headlight. However, I have lost track of some wires and where they belong. Currently, the starter, horn, brake light, and headlight work, and it appears that only the turn signals are crazy. The right-side turn signal works as it should, but I am lost on the left side. I have the wiring diagram from the forum, but auto electricity isn't my main competence. I took a picture of the mess, and maybe someone can direct me. Wire #2 is the left turn signal, and wires #6 and 7 are the wires from the right side. Please note the right side (#6 and #7) only has two wires because I do not use the position light
I wonder if someone could push me in the right direction.
Sincerely,
Hans

Re: Replaced headlight, but lost track of wires during assembly
The baby blue wires are for the right turn signal. One has a white stripe and one is a solid baby blue. One powers the running light and the other is the turn signal filament. The orange wires are for the left turn signal and again, one has a white stripe. One powers the turn signal filament and the other powers the running light.
The dark blue is for the bright headlight beam. One connection powers the headlight and the other wire goes to the blue indicator light on your dash. The brown wire with a white stripe powers the background lights on your dash. I see you have some different colors connected together which is not going to work.

You may find the chart below useful for future reference. As cfairweather alluded to, Honda are very good at keeping wire colours consistent so that wires of one colour almost always plug together with wires of the same colour. The only exception is where the wires will show when the bike is fully assembled (such as the turn signal wires) and in those cases they use solid black wires and add little sleeves coloured to match the wires they plug together with.
Of course, that won't help when you are connecting aftermarket turn signals that have different coloured wires but at least with the chart you can know which is which on the bike
