Smart Carb

Post by what huh »

Anybody every heard of this. I just did today and have been doing some research on it. Pretty interesting tech if you ask me. Here is a link to the website.

Its got me thinking about how I would adapt them to the Wing. Duel set up like the webars but pointed forward instead of going straight up

$700 a carb for the ones that seem that they would work for a dual carb set up on a 1000cc bike. So $1400

I didnt say it was cheap, very interesting tech

This reminds me of a company in Toronto during the '60s that had a process to remanufacture the carb and give you some 50 MPG. Father looked into it being a mechanic and all. Company was bought out and product disappeared.

Even though my GW is an '85 FI model, think CYBORG is spot on. Lots of carb motorcycles out there, parts are becoming harder to find, and finding an experienced rebuilder will be harder as we go forward. Follow the various forum threads regarding carb issues, and having older carbs rebuilt is not inexpensive. Can see a need for a different tuning process such as the incorporation of an exhaust oxygen sensor for a fuel lean or fuel rich condition indicator. Look forward to following and reading more about this.

A quick search of reviews- both Smart Carb and Lectron are pretty engine-specific. Work in a similar way. Have both been primarily used for 2 strokes so far.

Lectron carbs have been used on 4 stroke drag bikes since at least the 80's. That is what I used. Only adjustment is needle height and idle speed. Can get them to idle good and run great at WOT. In between they aren't so great.
