Latest iteration of my Goldwing

#1

Post by puddleduck »

So after a long hibernation the Goldwing is back on the road with some new paint, seat, exhaust and grips.

my wife calls it "cafe latte".
it is very Triumph Bonneville inspired in colour.

the exhaust needed baffles and fiberglass packing to be nice to my ears.
the seat is texavina 26" I could have gone 25", maybe 24"

eventually the rims may become black.

Nice. I used Duplicolor rattle-can wheel paint on mine. You can clear coat with Spraymax 2K Glamor Clear. Please don't bother with powder coating. It chips just as easily.

Thanks for the advice. I was told I should powder coat them, but everyone else seems to paint. I was worried about durability. When I get new rubber I'll paint them while the wheels are off....

I used Duplicolor Etching Primer (I think Rustoleum also sells it) after thorough cleaning (that's the hard part) before the wheel paint and clear. If you don't want the shiney, Spraymax (I buy it on Amazon) makes a couple non-gloss clears. Getting behind the spokes seems difficult until you realize that line-of-sight is all you need.
