Side cover rubber settings?

What is your experience with side cover rubber settings?? Don’t seem to be available from Honda anymore.
Number 8 on parts fiche.

Ya, they are a pain to find. I have a couple some place, and for a resto, original is the thing But I have have gone without any on my 78 for years with no ill effects

you could make a set using heat shrink tube and put them on the tabs on the side cover instead of on the brackets on the frame.

It's so simple I'm embarrassed I didn't think of it long ago. Truth is, I had to repair the tabs, and when I did, I made them fit REALLY good. But I might, if I ever get around to working on the 78, do that. Will do that on the 77, when I get to that stage

I used 3 layers of it to repair the radio antenna on my sons car...vw jetta. looks like the previous owner hit it on something and broke the plastic housing. I did that over 2 years ago and it's still solid.

i got mine for my '79 at Sirius Consolidated a couple of years ago. They certainly made a difference in the way it felt when I put the side cover back on.
