It’s amazing what you can fit in those pockets!
Today was nice, easy riding. All fun and no straight roads.
The neighborhood around tenkiller was really something! I’d like to come back for a holiday sometime.
So far I really love Arkansas. Anyplace with boiled peanuts in a can is fine by me. Also we had our first campfire. And of course, KG made his first s’more.

Enjoying your story. Sounds like the quest for free campsites is the driving force of your daily destinations. I don't believe I've ever heard of someone or someones trying to visit every Chinese buffet in the country. I wonder, will you continue the quest once you've returned to Sweden? Great trip.

Re: Coast to coast in the US back again!
Day 14
We woke up in the Ozarks which was really pretty and then once the sun was over our campsite it was really hot
We got going and took backroads winding all the way through Arkansas. People were very nice to us and wanted to chat and wish us luck which made the day nice, but it certainly was a hot one.
I had planned some nice camping in either St Francis of White River State Park, but by the time we stopped for lunch/Chinese buffet I was too exhausted and hot to go another hundred miles or so to a nice campsite so we decided to get hotel in Searcy, Arkansas. This ended up being a great decision cause we were finally able to take it easy, and sit in some AC
Also, it helped us reassess an important move in the day to come...

Re: Coast to coast in the US back again!
I want to clearify that the main objective of this trip is not to visit Chinese Buffets. I think our priorities are something like this:
1) Move the bike to NYC latest Sept 22
2) catch as many motorcycle roads as possible on the way there
3) stay at nice campsites on the way
4) get good value for money meals that are not too unhealthy....
Now no 4 for some reason mostly means chinese buffet. If you take it easy on the fried stuff and the desserts, its not so bad for you. Now concidering its all you can eat for 8 or 9 dollars its hard to beat! But after today we felt its gonna be enough for a while. It seems they all get the food from the same wholesale dealer or something? Feeling a bit fed up. Going to look for other food now...

DAY 15
At some point in planning our route for the day, I flippantly mentioned that we would be going through Memphis and maybe we can stop there for lunch.
KG suggested we go to Graceland! Honestly I didn’t know what he meant at first but we did go, and now I understand completely.
We also took the chance to stop and see the Lorraine Motel in Memphis.
On our way through Arkansas, we passed some fire on the side of the road that had me looking up Arkansas burning practices cause it seemed like a lot of people burn their old crops and garbage.
We ended up camping in a really nice park just over the boarder of Mississippi. Wall Doxey. There was a nice spring lake and fishing. We got there too late to see any of that til the next morning, but it was pretty.

Re: Coast to coast in the US back again!
I didnt know that it was in Memphis that Dr Martin Luther King was murdered. Now they have preserved the motel as it was 1968 and built the civil right museum right next to it.
The whole Graceland experience was more or less like checking onto a flight. Standing in different lines to checking in and then transfer bus to the property itself too. Price was also similar to a flight.
It felt like they set it up so that you walk around and you see the house, belongings, documents, planes, cars and anekdotes, but really without getting to know anything about the man. No insights to his thinking, his problems, his ambitions or his place in history or his context. Nope. Over to huge buildings of merchandise!
Still nice to see the stuff though. And going to a place like this, the whole museum and its visitors is all part of a phenomenom that is interesting to see as well.

DAY 16
We woke up fairly early to make it from Missisippi over to Anniston in Alabama to stay two nights with Amandas's uncle.
Mostly going straight straight, but now whenever I get bored of going straight for an hour, I think of the guy we saw on a long stretch of nothing in the scorching sun a few days back, pushing a hand cart with the sign "walking across america".....
Tired of Chinese buffets, we had great lunch with a bit more local cuisine along the way. Fried catfish, beans and fried corn muffin and sallad was really good!
Close to Atlanta I just saw the sign for Barber veteran motorsports museum and just took the exit. I think Amanda had planned for us to stop there, but I didnt know about it.
So many things to see.... we had to rush through many sections to make it in about 3 hrs. Enormous collection!
It was first time for me seeing a CBX1047, a bike I almost bought about 8 years ago. Now they're mostly just too expensive. Also interesting to see the work of this guy who made a Kawasaki V8 and a V12 by mating two engines. Nice display of the BMW's Jim Rogers and his wife rode around the world too. A CB750 made for Canadian police! And two Goldwings...
After the museum we had dinner with Amanda's aunt and uncle and got to sleep in one of the most comfortable beds ever. Great day!

DAY 17
Day off! It was great to have a relaxing day in Uncle Tim's house in Anniston. We got ourselves, our clothes and the bike a good clean up. Also we all went on some sightseeing up on Cheaha mountain, had lunch out (that was my first shrimp and grits experience), hung around the house and relaxed. Once again the great american hospitality that makes it seem that you have known people for a long time, even though you just met them.
Tomorrow the adventure continues....
