Re: Cafe/Hot Rod Build 79Gl1000
Crazy...been out of town, in and out of the country for a while and I come back and I was BOTM! So cool, unfortunately I saw this on Jan 1
Thanks for the love!
Been working on lots of other projects...
KTM 625 SMC super moto restoration. Got dirt bikes for the whole family, including the wife (lots of work to keep all the those going) Working on first commissioned build, Honda Shadow 750 bobber. Its a little shiner than the GL1000.

Seriously, I like the new seat, as well. No longer looks like a fat black caterpillar is along for the ride!

No flip flops while riding, no worries there. I trailered it there. I live at the beach so flip flops are an everyday wardrobe item

Re: Cafe/Hot Rod Build 79Gl1000
I’m tossing around the idea of selling this bike. I need to fund another build. I know it’s a tough question to answer but what do you guys think would be a fair asking price?

Re: Cafe/Hot Rod Build 79Gl1000
I build and flip a couple of bikes a year. Plan on loosing money. Sad but true. Around here (S. Texas) and probably most other places it is easier to buy a new bike than a used one. Most of my buyers are older, understand the facts of making payments long term and or have some attachment to the older bikes I am peddling. I have a GL1200 on Craigs list where it has been for the last year, listed for $2800. Once in a while I get a call but no buyers. If I go much lower it will be a loosing proposition. Seems like around $2000 is what people are willing to pay for a used bike in good to better condition. For me it is a hobby and I just want to "fund another build" but I hate to give them away for too much less than I put into them.

Re: Cafe/Hot Rod Build 79Gl1000
I have found the same thing. It's tougher still with a custom. You have to stumble onto a fellow (or gal) who likes the direction you've taken. Best thing is, I guess, to be willing and able to tough out a waiting period of unknown duration.
...or dump it cheap and move on.

Re: Cafe/Hot Rod Build 79Gl1000
I’ve been able to clear $3500-$4500 for each of my previous customs. Similar builds. So here’s hoping.

Very cool bike! I really want to do a fork conversion on mine. Need to do some more research though.
