Pipes are 1-5/8" OD and the holes in the tube are 1-3/4 (Closest hole saw I had.)

Still riding the one with the Hitachi 306 carb? Curious as to what you’re finding performance wise, any flat spots, bogging, etc? You just cleaned it and bolted it on, correct?
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Eric,
I didn't even clean it as I could not get the top off so I just bolted it on and ran it. I have not had much chance to ride it as it is for a three wheeler project later. It has no brake lines front or back and I did not want to invest in lines because all of that will change anyway.
Right now in central Kentucky we are locked into a spell of rainy weather that just will not go away. I would not be surprised if it is snowing in a couple of weeks. The weather in Kentucky is very strange, We went straight from winter to summer and will probably go straight from summer to winter.
I purchased another carb just like the last one because it ran so well.
This bike will stay a two wheeled motorcycle and will be ridden so soon I hope to have it on the road, This is the first time I have taken a goldwing down to the shortblock but I was very careful in everything I have done so it should be OK.

I got the manifold welded up today. I had to drag my welder from the shop to the garage because the tubes had to be tacked in place then I could take it back to the shop to weld it and cap the ends. I am undecided whether to get it powdercoated or just paint it? I am a tight wad.

Nice welding. Wish I had those skills. How heavy is that beast?

Do you pressure test your work? Don't need any vacuum leaks. 10 psi and soapy water is all you need.

It's not very heavy at all the tubing is thin and the square tube is only 1/8" thick. Even with the carb I think it is lighter than the factory carbs.
The welds could be better if I was to tig weld them but I just used my mig gun because it is quicker and I don't need another bottle lease.
I didn't check the first one I made and it worked OK. I might check this one, I can spray some carb cleaner in it or acetone and see if it bleeds out.

I was contacted today at school by a friend who ia trying to convince me to produce some of the manifolds and sell them as a manifold/carb combo. If I made a jig I could manufacture a bunch of these but I have a hard time charging people for my work. People are never happy with what you do for them and I don't know if its worth the hassle.

I just bought a kit of two carbs, manifolds, pods, seals and throttle cable to replace the stock ones on the CX500 I am building. They were advertised to be set up and pre run on test engine. There are many favorable reviews from users.

I installed them yesterday and put about 50 miles on the bike. No adjustments were required with a big improvement in power and function.

They were reasonably priced but by no means cheap.

My point is that if you are willing to sell the package ready to bolt on and run well, you will please most of your customers most of the time.

When I put on the first manifold I made and the new carb it ran fine right out of the box. I did not get a chance to run it down the road as it's going to be a longer term project.
I do not know if the intake manifolds for the 1100 and the 1200 are the same size so I will have to research that as well. It is an interesting proposition as I could probably get 250 for just the manifold itself. A complete kit would be in the 400 dollar range but would include the manifold, carb, and air filter.

A professional carb overhaul is upwards of $400 for the four carb Goldwings. The two carb kit I purchased was around $600.
