I'm running an 5/8" (almost 16mm) and I do use two fingers but the braking is good. I thought that going larger on the master resulted in higher hand pressure through reduced lever travel?CBX-tras wrote:Not true. Works like one finger power brakes. Here's a photo of the first bike I did using that m/c, years ago. Same calipers as the 1100, stock rotors. The results will amaze you.

Not with the newer designed radial master cylinder that most bikes have nowadays.Old Fogey wrote:I'm running an 5/8" (almost 16mm) and I do use two fingers but the braking is good. Rear Shocks on the GL are Wilbers Racing.Sugs wrote:Doh! OK then, not something I'm going to attempt. Some serious parts research, modding and fitting there. How about the rear shocks?CBX-tras wrote: The front suspension is a collage of parts, legs are CB900F, lower triple is CB1100F, upper triple is from a ProLink CBX, springs and emulators are from Racetech, calipers are 4 piston progressive (2 different size pistons) Brembo held on via Metalgear Works brackets and the 320mm rotors are from SunStar in Japan. They're made for some Suzuki (not available in the USA) but I re-machined the center and bolt pattern to attach to the Honda hub.
Wheels were custom built for me by Buchanan in California.
The bars started out as clip-ons made in Japan (unknown mfg.) that I highly modified to achieve the fit/function I was looking for. Front fender is from a Yamaha FZ6R, the rear fender I sectioned from stock, bobbed about 6 to 7 inches.
I did notice the bars, not something I've ever seen, pretty trick.
And maybe its just the picture, but the headlight seems a little high and out there. You planning on tucking it in a little, more like the bike in your avatar?
I have the Suzuki 8" headlamp at a height even to the cluster to protect THAT $700 investment. I'll update the avatar someday too, to reflect the latest headlamp placement on that bike:

This bike has more "instant" power than anything you've probably ridden.
See it at Stockbridge, MI this coming Sunday 17. Bring your checkbook (and hearing protection) if you've always wanted a world-class, professional built, supercharged Gold Wing.
Or, contact me if interested in purchasing, plenty of photos available from during the build.

The build is looking GREAT! Very nice. I was noticing the brake reservoirs on the front end. Do both of them work?? And if so, how do you push in the clutch? Just a curious question!

The left one is a hydraulic conversion to operate the clutch. Several of us have done similar. Mine has a complete GL1200 system.

As "Old Fogey" mentioned, it's a hydraulic clutch conversion, found here on the site. And it works very well.codyjames707 wrote:The build is looking GREAT! Very nice. It also solved a potential issue of finding or fabricating a shorter clutch cable with the bars I made. With this, Spiegler (one of my suppliers) made a hydraulic line to my specs for that custom fit.

Very nice!
Have you dyno'ed the bike at all? Maybe that's past tense by now.
Interesting how many current and former Michigan bikers are on this site, I did a few school years in Mt Clemens.

I'm in the process of tweeking the fuel delivery system and carb tuning to be optimum and civilized. That portion of the project should be done this week.
Once I get it to the point I feel it's perfect, I'll put it on the dyno and see what's available at WOT. Scary fast already.
Next up - variable speed turntable for the display at Autorama 2018.

Wow, what a clean build bike !!!
Respect and a deserved bike of the month winner
(I m just not a fan of the high position of your headlight, but that's all I can come up with as critical comments.
And this proves I need to keep better up to date on the forum as well.. thought to be seeing most of the interesting stuff already on the FB community...
