Steeven First Bike Build. I call it the Black Bike

#1

Post by Steevensi »

So, I already introduced myself here.

http://www.ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=59181

Got a bike, and now I try to make it look good naked, while giving it a personal touch.
I'll updated this tread as I go along!
I'm on the forum several times a day, trying to absorb some of the other members knowledge! anim-cheers1

The name comes from my daughters. Since they are little, they call my cars and bikes by their color. So this one is the Black Bike!

Cheers

Steeven

First thing I did was to make it as naked as possible.
It was never in my plan to remove the engine from the frame.
The plan is to do the maintenance and then dress it back with some custom parts.

I cleaned the bike a lot...
It was so nasty under the fairing and the luggage. Naturally these parts never get cleaned.
I used a strong stuff to remove the grease. The smell lasted in the house for a couple of days.
My girlfriend was not a happy camper.

I also did some touch ups on the frame and the brackets.

First surprise was the air filter. Or at least what was left from it. :IDTS:
How can you let that happen??

I then removed the exhausts to see if they were salvageble.
They'll do. I'll clean them a bit and I'll make the tips shine.
I'll wrap the front with DEI white wrap. I like wrapped pipes! It hides the rust. :-D :-D

New air filter!

Decided to change the oil.
And then bad luck stroke. Stipped bolt...Missing washer...
I had to go and buy a bolt extractor.

Ordered the bolt, should arrive shortly.
I couldn't find that washer for less than 25$ delivered. Yeah for Canada!
Finally got it from the honda dealership for a song. dancr

Also changed the spark plugs. From what I can see, the old one still look alright.
