Tach cable and gauge

#1

Post by FADM Stern GNSF »

Just purchased a tach cable for the GL1000 but for the life of me cant figure out how the engine end fits in. It slips over the tab and turns the inner cable, but doesnt seem to seat in, plus there is no visible screw to hold it in ? I pu it in temporary to see if the tach gauge works, and it "sort of" does, but the gauge needle is very slow to react? not sure if this means the gauge is bad ?

Any help would be appreciated

One of the bolt's that holds the fuel pump to the head also holds the cable in place.

And has to be removed before you can insert the cable end the groove in the end is what the bolt slides past/through, and there is an o ring in there that should be replaced.

Not an o-ring, it is a seal. ;) Part number 31 here. http://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts/197 ... #sch405799

Thanks all, got it on ok (sure helps when you know what you are doing lol). Hope I can get the tack to speed up as the speed its moving now its basically useless lol. I think the temp gauge and battery gauge react faster lol. Maybe there is a way of lubing it up without having to cut the thing apart (seperated a few for the CX500 and its a pain in the butt).
