This is where discussions of EFI systems, Dual Carbs, Single Carb mods and plans can be discussed and shared.
If you are working on or have a problem with stock carbs then your questions do not belong here, please post them in the Goldwing Tech Discussions Forum.
Um ..... seems YOU have to answer that one .......

Ok, been thinking about if a C5 ignition can run the EFI on this 1200 I got, and it made me wonder what actually triggers the injectors to squirt? Could the tach signal be used to trigger them? I really need to get a manual for one of these to figure stuff out.
The Microsquirt needs at least one 12v pulse per 360 deg cam rev to fire the injectors.
From looking at the C5 wiring diagram, there's a tach output (green wire) that gives one 12v pulse per 360 deg crank rev, so it should work well with Microsquirt.
Because a 4 cylinder engine like the Goldwing actually fires once every 180 deg crank, the Microsquirt will need to be told that its firing a 2 cylinder engine, and to fire each injector alternately. With each output wired to 2 injectors in parallel, all 4 injectors will fire every 720 deg crank, which is what's wanted.
My powers of explanation are lacking sometimes, hope this makes sense.
Thanks socrace! I get what you are saying about how the Microsquirt needs to "think". What I can't quite wrap my head around is if the C5 can do the microquirts job as well...so if it would be possible to run just a C5, and make it fuel as well as spark. I know there are so many options with a C5, unfortunately, it is way above my head what it all can do.
I think the C5 unit *may* be able to mount where the stock efi cam sensor is (on the right hand cam/cylinder head), need to ask someone at C5 about that.
Then, since the C5 is self-contained as far as ignition goes, you could just tap into the C5 tach wire to get the signal that Microsquirt needs.
You'll also need to convert all the Honda efi sensors over to the kind of sensors that Microsquirt uses (GM mostly).
Not an easy project, I'm not aware that anyone's ever done it before!

Yep, Paul and I have been going round in emails...problem is, niether of us have tried to do much with an EFI engine, so we are both kind of learning as we go.
