After changing my stator 3 times I went with the mini GM alternator with a poorboy conversion. No worries now.

All stators fit the 84 less Ltd/Sei and 87 Models which came with the 500w high output stator of the Efi models.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ricks-Electric- ... 1088402185

There are no ignition pickup lugs on the front of an 84 engine.

First pic is a new 86A stator sitting in my 84.
Third is the front an 84 with no ign pickup lugs.
Fourth is Ltd/Sei/87 stator (5" OD) compared to a Honda lifetime replacement stator (4.5" OD) in my 84 which all replacements came regardless of series with either a white or blue band near plug to denote it has been changed under warranty all 1200 models.
Last is an 87 brochure stating High output.

Yes the GL1200 was the first Goldwing assembled in Marysville Ohio. They produced them there until about 2009 when they moved Goldwing assembly back to Japan.

I think it's interesting to note that the manufacture date on my 1200 is June of 1983 and it's serial no 003.

[quote="jdvorchak"]Yes the GL1200 was the first Goldwing assembled in Marysville Ohio. They produced them there until about 2009 when they moved Goldwing assembly back to Japan.

1980 was the first year of the wing being assembled in Ohio with a mixture of Japanese and American made components.

My 86A engine was built in America.
