look this is silly ... sheesh I got accused of stealing captian discouts complete carb set up ... and stolen is carb choice ...sheesh there are many fools with fat heads ... plain and simple my bike hooch would not run on stock carbs ..cam change into 1200 motor was huge impact mod ...and to much for the stock cv carbs and springs ....witch was going to make matching them up kind of hard .... so went with single weber carb ... picked the the 32-34 carb witch is a dft and took off to make it work .. never once rob any info are carb info .... west gl never did a thing on single carb set up till he seen my success ....I will say he knows how to spread the word ... but its best to keep mouth shut till you absolutely know your saying something ...this crap the carb are perfect out of the box is a joke ....and very misleading ....and then there people like captian discount who purposely mislead people and discount anyone who has any success like hott...me ...and west gl....or anybody else ... there is also some good solex conversions ..I don't want to leave that out ... I don't really have ant experience there to comment on ....

factory carbs are ok ... and I have always made them work ... but there is a huge place for singles to bring back a bike whose carbs are just trashed ... ive bought several carb racks from forum members and ebay that were hopelessly trashed ...in these racks there is no way to fix them so the single comes into play in this situation too ....

this is like the dark side stuff and just in the ozone layer of personal choice and situational choice ....sheesh the bs

I think this is a very good point!

When I first got my '82, it had been out in the weather year round for 12 years and the carbs were beyond salvage. I ended up getting another wrecked bike to salvage the engine and carbs, but I may have considered a single carb conversion at the time (if I had any idea then) since the bike was already in pieces.

CYBORG wrote:There is no need to makeup problems to justify a carb selection. The four carb system, if well maintained, will not leave you stranded. And to that end, there are thousands of honda dealers across the country, and the world for that matter. If you choose to convert to a single carb, you don't have to justify it on this site. WE embrace experimentation.
i have thousands of miles on stock carbs with no issues. But i never leave on a trip until I'm sure the bike is up to it

ebay for the intake, linkage is a homebrew most times. Normally you just use the pull cable and a return spring.

Dear God, 7 pages and 102 posts on a subject that has been hammered to death over the years. I really don't believe it!

This thread has some tempting "bait."

But, it's not nearly tempting enough for me. Anyone wanting me to weigh in will have to try much, much harder

After 12+ years, I'm nearly immune to these threads now :)
