Thanks for posting that Steve.

It could be the way I’m looking at the pictures but it seems to me the first picture shows the pull cable at the top while the last two pictures shows it at the bottom.
I installed the cables as it’s shown in the first picture. I must have done something wrong because the linkage is stuck in both directions. Could I have the cables reversed ?

I checked for kinks.

Yes if you have them reversed it would be locked up I suspect. Most definitely the pull cable goes on the top.

The biggest disadvantage would be safety. The push cable aids in closing the throttle to decel the bike at roll off which helps the return spring. The return spring on the carb should pull the throttle closed by itself though if a person were to run without a push cable. A couple other members run the old school single cable throttle without any problems. But, if that spring breaks free from reefing on the throttle during rapid acceleration, then you might have yourself a situation. That's why there's a KILL switch.

i always run a single cable, on all of my bikes, and have never had a problem. it is mostly a safety issue, but with the heavy spring on the carbs, overkill in my opinion, to have the push cable
