Cool! Great to see all the relevant info in one place.

I have only used the Keyster kits as they came free in a pile of carburetor racks which came with the resto project!

Mostly ended up using the 'O' rings and gaskets as there was nothing wrong with the original jets in the carburetor rack I used. The clips on the float valves can touch the housings after bedding in. I used a fine stone to remove a small amount of material from the face of the housing on a couple and reverted to the original OEMs on the the others. Also had to reuse the float valve filters and they are not a very tight fit on the valve housing.

Wouldn't buy these as there is a lot of parts not required, would just go with a kit which has the essential parts like 'O' rings and Gaskets

Great writeup Ron! Almost like you have too much time on your hands. LOL.
As stated my old brass, etc. cleaned up really well, first using the "crock pot" method, then using a recently purchased ultrasonic cleaner.
Haven't put them back together yet but the Randakk kit is here waiting to be installed.

Great work,Ron! I hope that anybody that joins this forum and is actively going to do their own carb rebuild, first looks at the info. you have compiled in this thread!!! I personally have been down the carb parts road before, and when it comes down to it,the choice is clear. Randakk has the kit and tech support for 10 years now,AND has made improvements to his product over the years. Name another manufacturer or supplier to do the same!

First, very nice job.

When I did my carbs in August I purchased the Randakk's kit. I ended up also buying the Saber Cyles kit later because (1) I managed to lose a idle fuel jet (blew it out of my fingers blowing air through the cleaned jet) (2) The slide needles on the 1 and 3 carbs were not in good shape and (3) I had a heck of a time pulling the float needle seats, doing varying degrees of damage to all of them.

The idle fuel jet is really hard to find, and 4 carb kits cost about the same as 2 stock Honda float valve sets, so I figured I would take the chance.

However, as Randakk tries to tell you in his video, the Honda parts are worth the money. The idle fuel jet turned out to be slightly too large for the tower. It got stuck and I had to drill it out. I measured the slide needles that came with the kits, and as Randakk says and your pic's show, they were clearly not the same size.

I finally located a full rack of '77 carbs on eBay for $89 and scavenged what I needed, including the entire #1 carb and all 4 float seats, although they still sustained some damage during removal. I will be ordering a full set of Honda float seats during the winter and swapping them in before next riding season.

Overall I would say that, at least on the GL1000's, the Saber Cycle kits are very much not worth it and Saber Cycles can maintain to their dying day that the kit is the right one for the 764A carb, and they will be wrong. On the plus side, I was able to drill out the primary jets they supplied for Randakk's "off idle hesitation" fix, which saved me the hassle of soldering and drilling.

Thanks Ron, I researched costs for 1100 carbs and when adding in the air cutoff valves (4)(usually not supplied with other kits) Randakk's seemed a real bargain.

That is a common theme I see regularly in multiple forums on 1100 carb kits.

"I can get 4 Brand X carb kits for my 1100 from Company Y for ~$70. Why is the Randakk kit near $200?"

They don't include the 4 cutoff valves and the accelerator pump rebuilds which run ~$20 each, so add a C-note to your ~$70 (and disregard the brass having value) and your getting close on price, but not quality of composition and the little added hard to find parts.

If anyone has 1100 aftermarket brass they would want to send me, I'll do a side-by-side comparison and post what I find.

I know from the 1200 kit I bought from randakk (when I basically just "cleaned" the carbs) the cost was comperable to what I would have paid for the OEM gaskets I would have needed.

Good write up, I still am in a "toss up" on rebuilding my 79 carbs or sending them off to Pete, but regardless, I will use randakks kit

I'm tossing it back and forth myself. My 110 carbs could use a freshening, but I can't decide to do them myself or send them to Pete......decisions decisions....
