Just wanted to throw in an update. Put over 3000 miles on it and still runs great. I have the MPG just about at factory. Her sweet spot for MPG is about 68 to 70. I have made some mods. The original runners have been worked on. I originally took the stock rubber boots of all four runners and just slide the hose from the manifold over them and hose clamped them. I found out two things. There needs to be more surface area for the hose and the hose needs to be reinforced so that it will not collapse. So I took the original runners and sanded the aluminim lip off of all four of them. I can now slide the hose on all the way down to mount bolts if need be. To fix the hose collapse I went to a rubber and gasket supplier and bought refuel truck hose that has a metal coil molded into the hose! This stuff is made to refuel aircraft from trucks and will not collapse and fuel dosen't hurt it. No more problems except a sore but after going 200 plus miles between fill ups.

Another update.
The refuel hose has had no issues and is working fine. Only thing better would be to have aluminum piping run all the way without the hose at all. Oh well, runs fine so i am not messing with it. The primary idle jet has gone down one size. It seems to be better now. The issue is with idling down after running for a bit at higher rpm. The quick twist of the throttle always brings it back to idle. It seems as if the filter is wet or something but i know it's not. It's an interesting issue but not a very bad one.

I also love the startup. Pull the choke, turn it over (sometimes it takes a bit as it has sat and has to pump the fuel up to the carb). As soon as it fires push the choke in and your ready. Idles smooth too. It normally cranks within a second unless it has been sitting for a few weeks.

Well I thought I had seen it all. I was working with the carb and noticed that it was not reseting all the way to idle. After an hour of trouble shooting I found that the angle that the throttle cable hooked up to the carb was causing it to bind. I then retuned it. I found that I had to go back up to the original primary idle jet. It runs very well but has a slight hesitation when you initially open the throttle.

Hay Brent, I"m running a Holley/Weber 32/36 and will also have the same effect. What I do is make sure the revs are up 3500 to 4000, then do a WOT and seems to be better and away ya go!!! Love it!!
Later, Bob What are you idleing at? I usually idle at about 1200.

My idle is at 1000. I do think it helps to get rid of the dead spot just a little higher though. 1200 is probably right on.
