While, Despite having a set of 758A's (from a 76 GL1000) on my bike, I made the decision to go ahead and re-build the carbs to at least get the bike running somewhat decent until Mike Nixon's schedule opened up in March so that he could source and re-build the correct set of carbs for my bike. So using Mike's re-build manual and Randaak's overhaul kit, I set about tearing down the carbs and replacing all the rock hard shrunken seals and cleaning out all the passages to a pristine level. I've got to tell you all that the transformation in how well the bike runs now is nothing short of amazing. It has immediate throttle response, has an absolutely smooth idle and I only have to have the choke on for a very short time (30 seconds) before the bike settles down to a silky smooth idle. I can't emphasize strongly enough how much a pleasure it is to work with both Mike Nixon and Randaal Washington on the overhaul. I even had Mike Nixon do some time sert repairs on some stripped out screw holes on a few of the carb body's where the carb bowls attach. And Randaals overhaul kit is extremely well organized and packaged. Both these gentelman are a treasure trove of help and knowledge and I highly recommend both of them.
Cheers, m

Ain't it grand!
Now when you get yout 758's done you could sell the 1100 rack and confidently list them as a good running set to recoup some of your $... or keep them for spares

I'd be interested in the 758As, if you ever decided to sell them
