GL1000 Floorboards

#1

Post by Gunny »

O.K. Guys, Gunny here (white walls) I purchased a set of floorboards for my 1000 from my local dealer. The manufacturer was Drag and Nothing wanted to marry-up correctly. I sent them back and purchased a set from JC Whitney for about the same price made by EMGO out of Atlanta. The attention to detail and craftsmanship of the Drag set was noticably better but the Emgo's seemed to fit a little better. I am not incredibly happy or impressed with them. It's important to note that I had a 1981 GL1100 that had the floorboards and everything seemed to be fine on that bike. I would like to go away from the stock pegs does anybody have any suggestions of a set that will fit and look nice?

Hey Gunny , hows it going ? An alternative I personally was thinking is a wide foot peg . What I was going to do is get the floor bourds and changed my mind to get the wide foot pegs instead , and there are alot out there that look really great .

The problem with just replacing the foot pegs, is that your feet are still under you. :-? I prefer the running boards, because my feet are out in front of me. :-D I have a set of Tripplr A's on mine, & they're considerably better than Markland or Drag Spestialties!! Image

BLACKGOLD,
You'll have to post some pictures of the forward controls: As you make them, & once they're on. crossy.gif

Maybe I mis-understood... Are you going to make forward controls, or get a different after-market set up? I can't use an after market set up on Susan's because if the swing arm.

I'm going to fabricate my own. I'm 6'6" tall so having the shifter and brake pedal in front of the heads will allow me to sit a lot more comfortably. I haven't been able to find any for goldwings so I figure its on me to figure it out. Besides most of the setups I've seen for other bikes are between $500 and $900. The Hell with that!!
