Kentucky Bourbon Trail

#1

Post by brokentoe »

While posting about Morganfrmn's new Dodge Viper red paint job on his 77 wing we decided to ride the Kentucky Bourbon Trail together. Featuring some of the most beautiful horse farms in the country, scenic roads, and a cluster of Bourbon distilleries that produce 95% of the world's bourbon, this trail is made for a one day cycling tour. We rode about 200 miles, enjoyed the scenery, answered questions about our vintage Goldwings.

:) We were somewhat of a contrast of biking styles. :!: I wore my tourmaster armored jacket, boots, and gloves, Morgan wore a short sleeve shirt, shorts and boatshoes(?) without socks. Morgan's red 77 is beautifully dressed out with matching red vetter equipment; my 75 is as naked as it gets, with a bag bungee corded to the seat. Morgan enjoyed sampling bourbon at the distilleries, I sampled bourbon at the distilleries.

It was a fun trip, made more fun with a fellow member of the NGW club. :crosso

If I remember there is a three picture limit on posts, so this is my second installment.
Oh, and I should also mention that included in the tour was a nice little jaunt along the Ohio River.

It was a reglious ride. Burbon was invented by a preacher, and here we had a theological
journey. My friend the free will armenian wore armor, and me the calvinist, "what will be will be"
wore shorts and slipers.

Just joking, the real reason I wore shorts was that the weather man said it was going to be 95 degrees,
and I thought I would catch a few rays...

#51 is an amazing bike... absolutely amazing, real clean...fine detail....Its hard to imagine there is another 75 that clean....

We did discover probably one of the most beauitful roads in this section of he country...

Here is a story on burbon, it was invented by a preacher, a gift from God.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bourbon_whiskey

my personnal favorite brand, is OLD CROW, many burbons cost 50 or 100 dollars for a small bottle but OLD CROW is only 8 dollars...

It was the drink of choice for American general and 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant. An apocryphal story about Grant's drinking has the general's critics going to President Lincoln, charging the military man with being a drunk. Lincoln is supposed to have replied, "I wish some of you would tell me the brand of whiskey that Grant drinks. I would like to send a barrel of it to my other generals."

Another famous politician who preferred Old Crow was Henry Clay, of Kentucky.[1] Common apocrypha of the Senate holds that he would sit through Senate sessions, boots upon his desk, whittling and sipping from a jug of Old Crow within easy reach
