Re: Winnie's Travels
I have been getting in some rides this season but have not been very diligent about reporting. The big one was Mid-Ohio ... man, what an event. Great to meet up with the gang again and to add a few new faces to the list. Some good and troublefree miles were racked up on that adventure.
Last weekend (Wednesday for me) I got out for a little jaunt up the River Road. That's Hwy 100 in Illinois, it goes up on the East side of the Mississippi. My travelin' partner was a good buddy's son who has graduated to street bikes this year. He started on a 250 Rebel, got his license and quickly wanted something more substantial. So he picked up a cherry '01 VT750 Shadow ACE with only 6k on the clock. Not my cup of tea but a fine bike for a young man to start his lifetime love of riding. He was very receptive to advice and I think his Dad must have put me in undercover to lay out the tips and tricks.
We stopped at a familiar place (pics in Winnie's resto thread from 2 years ago) and got some fashion pics.

With his dirt experience he led me up a pretty rough stretch to get a good view of the river. I wouldn't have picked that trail if'n it were me! But I gotta say that the view was pretty spectacular.

All in all, a good day. A couple hundred miles, a good meal and a new friend.

Thanks, guys.
I like the std look but my eye always strays to the mismatched color of that '82 Wineberry front fender. Aaargh!

I don't know if I'd thought to mention but Winnie has more fun than I do.
