Dual Weber Conversion conversation

#1

Post by sunnbobb »

Well, all the parts are here (I think) so I am going to start in on a dual Weber conversion.

First I purchased a set of Randakks Intake manifolds. His shipping was lightening fast and the machine quality on the intakes is superb. I mean, really nice.

I also picked up a set of Weber IDF 40's (made in Italy) that look a little different than the ones in the Randakk manual.

As a note to Randakk, thanks for the intakes and I will not reveal any of your confidential info as I work through this install.

The first thing I found was this nice exploded view of the carbs:

EXPLODED VIEW AND PARTS LIST FOR WEBER IDF 40 CARBS

This is the start. As I move along I will update.
I found the end of the internet

Looking forward to this!! I have wanted a setup like that since I saw the first one but cash is just too tight for that kind of extravagance.

Now this should be interesting.

Can we assume that this setup is a present for Meddle?

This is the best book I have ever seen on Weber carbs. This was my bible when I ran a Weber on my Datsun. Covers 'em all - HP publishes great stuff IMHO

Have fun.

Shh. it's in the room called "Shokei"... Soon to be released...

The Shokei or "Demon" is slowly acquiring parts. The 1100 engine is on the stand having a new 1200 clutch installed. After removing the rear cover I discovered this engine will need to be gone through, so I diverted my attention to finishing Vyper and Brain Damage.

I'm going to do a Weber IDF conversion to a 82 GW that was my brother's bike that has sat for the last 10 years. I'm into old aircooled VW's so I'm allways on the look out for Weber's and Dellorto carbs, If you keep a eye on "Craig list" you can find some good deals on carbs, I just picked up a set of 40 IDF's that look brand new for $250.00 that came from a type 2/4 [bus-transporter] so I cant use the manifolds so I,m going to try to sell them for $40-50 bucks and make back some of my money. Another place to get Weber parts from is Pierce manifolds,

http://www.piercemanifolds.com/

I have had good luck with them.

I love Boxer engines be GoldWing or VW
