In Asia it is always better not to ask what you are eating. One of the more interesting things I ate in China is duck webs. If you are ever in Taipei Taiwan, don't let anybody take you to snake alley for dinner. Never know what you will get and it may still be alive.

Back in '84 I spent some time in London and Scotland. Most of the time I had no idea what I was eating but everything was really bland and for someone that doesn't like spicy food, that was really a change.

Fellow tourists in our group chided my wife and I when we were spotted going into a McDonalds which we did only for some familiar tastes and flavors. What a disappointment tht was. Bland McDonalds food too.

In Scotland I was offered something called a "Spotted Dick" which was some kind of steamed dessert. Y'know, if I don't like the name I'm not gonna put it in MY mouth. (I was tempted to tell 'em that I already had one.) :-D

I was very happy to get back to the states.

Spotted Dick, drowned baby, spotted dog, etc. are all puddings that take hours of boiling and tons of suet to prepare...there are special "tins" made just for boiling them.
